  3. with the more recent problems of hawks,, thought it worth another post,,",PEREGRINES BEING MADE A SCAPEGOAT BY FANCIERS" ,,,,,JUST A BLOODY DISGRACE TO EVEN SUGGEST THIS,J,W,,,,,,,,,,THIS POST WAS PUT ON A LONG TIME AGO , COMMONSENSE TELLS US THEVE MULTIPLIED SINCE THEN [ YES AND HOW MANY FOLD?] JUST WISH THEY WOULD LET THE GAMEKEEPERS DO THEIR JOB, AFTER ALL THEIR JOB IS TO KEEP THE BALANCE OF NATURE,,,,,THE RSPB, ARE NURTURING THE UNBALANCE OF NATURE
  4. good luck to all :) with top class returns
  5. had this many years ago rick, and know the worry and consequencies, of this dreaded desease,, the carriers are the worst, as you cannot see it in them, , hope you solve things out,,,but mice ,,,out [they pee every 10 mins or so , and if birds pick at this , or on the grub , its trouble,,,
  6. i allways keep a rentokill trap from homebase, its a clear plastic container , with entry in and enty out, the poison cannot get to any birds etc , i keep it on the loft floor at all times , never seen [or smelt] any mice,, worst things for paratyphoid, salmonella ,with devastating results ,,,,and long lasting ones too
  7. the cock maybe will not sit tight on it at that age, but may still feed it,, see if its crops full, if not, you might have to hand feed it as sammy says, its easier than you think and will become a very tame bird indeed just seen your second post,,,yes put it under the other pair theyll be ok,,,good luck
  8. same here yesterday, a hawk [perigrine] ive been watching for a while now,, came from nowhere , just nipped a good black cock , a few feathers lost in the air ,the birds went sky high, and the pair of crows warded this hawk off in to the distance , but i can tell you, that was one lucky bird,,just afew feathers off his back, , and that was with me being there at the time , and to be honest, even if i had ,had a gun , it wouldnt have been any good , ive been watching this bird for a while now, and every time it comes anywhere near,, the crows have warded it off, but itll come once to often?,,,the crows will get it????
  9. i was in his class at school ;D ;D ;D and it was approved ;D ;D ;D think sammy may be a wee bit out on that one, maybe im wrong , but i think the galabanks were kirkpatricks
  10. sir colin ,,,,,kirkpatrick
  11. bang on again sammy most of johny kirkpatricks were galabank something , but these birds originated [if you want to go far enough back ] to the old gits and barkers ,sion, and many more
  12. yes your right there too rose , but it was johnny kirkpatrick that developed his own strain ,, from these old strains,, these produced the famous solway king etc.
  13. yes your right sammy a r hill from st just in cornwall
  14. thats the old van loafs ;D ;D ;D
  15. most of these pigeons oiginated from the late johny kirkpatrick, a lot of these pigeons were grizzles , they were famed for the distance allthough have won shorter races too, if im not mistaken the near white pigeon ,,,,",virgo" a young bird national winner was of these lines [ raced by the fountainhead stud]
  16. how old are you jordan,i just see your a young fancier? maybe if you get any info, you can let us know
  17. i must say ive never heard of this breed of tumbler pigeon, ,,the only thing i can think of is the magpie pigeon [which could be short for mags.] this is a fancy pigeon near to the colour ofa magpie , but there are also variations in colour
  18. i would kick of in saying its not that very often you see a bird in such a condition , that it allmost tells you itself,, ive found when they come into this extra special condition, they look differant act differant , their colour sticks out, their eye blinks so fast you can hardly see it blink, their body will quiver , their eye sparkles like a diamond, they handle like cork , warm to the feel , fete warm :)theyll go off and fly on their own for hours sometimes , theyll eat less,, there are many more aspects of this condition ,, but when this condition comes and if it comes ,, the bird will win
  19. how would you describe a pigeon that is in tip top condition,, really at its best,
  20. or a bit of the old white magic ;D ;D ;D think we have a few fete footishnesses on here ;D ;D ;D
  21. the best sprint pigeons are ,,, the ones that win the sprint races,,,,regular :)
  22. won my first trophie in 1958,, still the best one i have
  23. the air is a lot warmer , their that bit older, theyll be in better condition then than now,, and [hopefully :) the sun should be out you can train them with the yb,s,, good luck to you my freind and i hope you have success with them
  24. this makes perfect sense, , a lot of fanciers think that as theve flown x amount of distance as ybs theyll do this as yearlings, im afraid this is not so, in fact the opposite so early in the season,, so it really is a case of watching the weather and being very cautious :) ben ,ben ,ben, :)new wiley was going to catch you out there ,, never mind, we live and learn :) , i would definately leave [at the very least 15 mins between them on single ups] , but if you can do it in a minute ben ,, the best of luck to you no offence meant matey at least your keen , that means a lot itself,, hope you do well ben
  25. glad to hear your pleased with your ybs ,, the ring numbers will have to be registered for entry for breeder buyer ,, so this is as good as any post to enter your ring numbers :),best of luck ,,remember £100 to breeder £100 to buyer,,good luck to all
