  1. really sorry to hear that , compo, im going through something similar at the moment,, and know ,well, the feeling, can only try your best [hard as it is] to keep the old chin up,, and batter on,,,,, i will be thinking of you pal.
  2. most definately
  3. wouldnt train ob,s twice a day ,, they wouldnt last more than a few races,,,,,,i find that most fanciers discuss training , but never discuss resting? to me , just as important
  4. dont think it would do the yb,s any harm , but there are better wormers nowadays piperazine, used for ascarids [worms] adverse reactions,,none very common narrow spectrum wormer, and as bruno says,, the drug sedates the worm and the bird must pass the worm, before the drug is gone,or it will remain in the pigeon,,,personally i would go for ivermectin,[ a lot of people would disagree with me ] but i have found this to be highly effective and safe for all worms except tape worm
  5. yes indeed jordan ,, pigeons will race to your loft no bother , providing you dont keep too many in the space you have,, wish you success :) and good luck
  6. yes i agree entirely , the reason i put the post up was because i had complained in the past [ youll see in previous postsof mine on amtrack] but thought it only fair to give them credit for their work today, as being disabled slightly , that young lad was extremely helpfull , as i was in a lot of pain at the time, so as i say , credit where credit is due
  7. pigeons picked up yesterday afternoon , delivered by amtrack 9am this morning , the driver , helped me basket birds , water them [he did this ] decent chap indeed [these birds were delivered to me for someone else who was at work]
  8. i wish you all good racing , this weekend ,and for the season,

  11. first one ...canker second one type of worm infecting intestines i would tell you rfreind to make sure everything is clean and disenfcted, then treat for cocci , worms and canker ,,, hope things improve
  12. would be hapy to see them ranging like this ,,but would take this oppertunity in basket training them [ie feeding and water in basket] and liberating 5 miles away each time, when next feed is due , this wont stop them ranging , but educate them very young [ifind the younger the better, ie 10 weeks] i have found in training darkness ybs too late , they can be lost easy [basket trained, overnight, 5 mile toss , hungry , once per week, straight in the loft , fed , youll benefit in the long run ]
  13. most of you use bleach without even knowing it ,,,, black minerals contain bleach
  14. i would agree, it would depend on the system you are using, it wouldnt do any harm on natural ,, but if the o,bs have any bad habits [ie landing on roofs etc ] the ybs will pick this up. so , really i would prefer to do them separately
  15. i would be more than happy to be in that position , all seems to have went really well, at this stage i would stop training , within a week theill be flying a good half hour am and a good half hour pm ,, with the month of may approaching , and hopefully a little heat in the air , i would have them doing an hour am and an hour pm [without training] for your open inland races , i would give them a 25 mile toss on the wed, back to a little conditioner in their boxes [wouldnt show them the hens the week b4 ]show the hens b4 they go to the open race, untill their sitting calm and quiet ,,, then pray ;D ;D ;D good luck
  16. absolutely beautifull photos, the one with the pigeon in flight is so precise and clear ,, really very good indeed
  17. fifer has done the sport proud on many occasions,, the sport could do with more like him :) ,, good luck fifer,, and carry on the good work
  18. even frightened ,,,ME there ;D ;D ;D ;D [well unmask him or her yet ;D ;D ;D] i know one thing , he or she is intelligent and knows the score , something like ,,,me ;D ;D ;D
  19. thats right westy , pigeons cant sweat, they tend do this to cool down,,,,but can be a sign of stress , or as me says , slightly unfitness and a decent fly can put this right, again depends on the air quality
  20. plenty fresh air and would make sure loft is bone dry,, if you must use antibiotics , tylan
  21. if it has bubbles on the bottom eylid its one eyed cold , without antibiotics , try and put a clean spit,, in the eye [ a spit from a non smoker and non drinker] this spit contains a kind of antibiotic that can cure it ,,,optrex , cold tea bag , will help
  22. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  23. plastic bin lid off, and turned everyday would use a wheelie bin , but cant afford to fill it ;D ;D ;D,,
  24. many differant ways ,, one way is thruogh the navel of a newly born chick other ways are from carriers , they can even catch it slightly tearing their mouth with a peice of grain , sometimes it can be a secondary infection,, man many ways , many differant kinds of canker , usualy made worse by dirt and stress
  25. some good ones too though ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D never even counted them till fifer enlightened me a few weeks ago ;D ;D ;D
