  2. Its a fact that nearly all top birds have good eyesign, unfortunately so have a lot of duffers which makes it unreliable for pigeon selection.
  3. Isn't there an auction running at the moment on Pigeonchat wih direct Bosua plus 08 birds.
  4. If that black hen was a PVDM with 3 wins in 3 races and a pedigree it would have been worth 3 times the asking price and there would have been a queue for it.
  5. Theres a few of his hens i've been considering, he has some cracking stock birds on Elimar.
  6. I probably agree with medicating only when neccessary but in real terms all fanciers dont have acces to an avian veterinarian and how many times a tear would this testing be needed. In the past we used to send dropping samples to specialist pigeon vets who would advise treating for worms, canker etc but in the case of respiratory infections etc its not so easily diagnosed by a novice fancier and blanket teatments remove some of he doubt. Anyway this is digresing from the original thread which i thought was intersting and helpful.
  7. I recently re started 3 years ago after about a 15 year break and although the 2 days a week thing wasn't common knowledge it was still usual to blanket treat all birds with the same medication used nowadays and often to treat mid season as a precaution. I imagine that while most discuss the rights and wrongs of routine medication a lot of the top men have movd on and are years ahead of this.
  8. Lol sorry, hes a she, but i was near. Dinnington i think.
  9. Can anyone tell me if respiratory is detectable with a microscope.
  10. Eloquently put smudger. But i dare bet most top flyers use a system not far removed from the one in question. As far as immunity goes these birds only have this regime for what? 14 weeks a year, if they get treated every 4 weeks on Doxy say, thats 6 days plus the 5 days at the start of the season, say 2 weeks overall, if you include cocci and canker thats 6 weeks from 52, 11%, does that really cause immunity problems,. Although veterinary testing is probably best i've never been sure what it can determine apart from the obvious worms, cocci and canker, I've read that Para doesnt always show and not sure if respiratory problems can be detected. Blanket treating has been used for years and although frowned upon by many "new age" fanciers it fits the bill. Just a thought.
  11. Theres a J.Duncan advertises in the Homing World a few times a year, hes in the Newcastle area, advertises Starview Busschearts and other strains.
  12. Just come across this today, was thinking of sending for it this week if its the one i'm thinking of. Thanks a lot 82. Jack
  13. Whats the breeding details, can you put the pedigree on.
  14. Thats a different world, as in any successful breed its always better to get directs, how many times on here do you hear the words " buy direct from the performance birds" or "go to entire clearance sales", what they dont say is take the bank manager with you. Likes of Louella gives the working man a chance to get birds with top bloodlines, albeit diluted, at a reasonable price. And often with a bit success too.
  15. As long as you got your money back i wouldnt imagine any of the unions wanting to take it further, although these bids are contracts it would be a brave man who took it to court bearing in mind if he lost what the costs might be.
  16. Have we got a price yet.
  17. Can i ask the sand users how deep you have it, i use easibed but it never looks clean, would i be right in thinking that with sand you just rake the top off now and again which isnt so easy with easibed as it all mixes together.
  18. Thanks very much lads, exactly what i'm looking for. Prefer to feed in the aviary and when feeding yb's i like to leave corn available all day. Had to laugh at the link when clockman offered you 12 pies for it.
  19. Is there a proprietary feeding hopper that stops the birds throwing the corn about the place, I'm sure a member had a pic of one he had made with holes along the sides. I prefer to feed the stock in the aviary but they throw the corn out and it atracts wild birds, mice etc.
  20. Used Coopers half a dozen times so far and only problem was when they picked up thursday or friday, took 4 days, since then i always make sure they collect early in the week and all have ben delivered same or next day. Lets face it you wouldnt send with amtrak friday, they wouldnt take them.
  21. Birds sold, thanks for the interest.
  22. Looks like Brian has gone on the mising list so wil have to readvertise these Gabys. £50 the pair, these are first class birds.
  23. A neighbour bought halfr a dozen lindelaufs and roland janssens this year and got 2 winners, cant complain with that, theres somuch good breeding in them itas to come out somewhere and 1 out of6 is a good average for any loft. Steve stoker Delbars are on Elimar at the moment and really look great, does anyone know what distance he flies with them
  24. UNC first race is about first week in April and airing about 20th January suits. Intend to pair stock first week in December and pair the race team when the stock are on about 12day young and float the eggs, well thats the plan anyway.
  25. Doesnt take long to be approved and 10% not bad at all for selling birds.
