  1. If he still is not right now I would seriously consider what it is you want for the bird, not your own needs but the birds? If it were mine that was shown in the photos earlier I would have done the honorable thing then. Old age is something us humans inflict on each other and our pets. It is not how nature does it. Sorry for being blunt.
  2. I had lots of them in the begining. Upon reflection looking over the pedigrees they were just bred from birds generation after generation that had never seen the outside of the single flight lofts, as then. I was once told to buy them from the recent imports which sounds a reasonable conclusion. Close to the apple tree not from the next field as mine obviously were.
  3. Nice little story here, well done for david for looking after this por bird.

  5. Karl, you are talking tosh my friend, it is not until a bird gets itself lost that I truely know their value, which to me is NIL. I like to breed 100 ybs over a season and I am constantly looking for that Ace bird. In long distance birds that Ace comes along once in a blue moon. I think the shorter distance type birds are completely different except that Ace is still but a pipe dream for most.
  6. I hope I never get any of mine reported. Yes I thought it worthy of a place in my loft to start with but now it has got lost and enterd someone elses loft I know its true worth. I will kill any which come back in a box. It sounds harsh to some I know but it is a fact and many others are just the same as me.
  7. Can these show rings be put on racers and sent to a race?
  8. I have one near the chimney pot on the house, is this ok? They spend all day up there and only come in at night
  9. Not sure if this is on here but worth a look. Arona-TENERIFE One Loft Race (Canary Islands) One of most difficult in the world. They have a nice videos of each training. At this time 701 pigeons arrived from last training over the sea. They put real-time list of trainings, individual photos of each pigeons, performance, etc. Click on th link below which will take you to a very well thought out site: http://www.derbyarona.com/uk
  10. None fanciers should always be colllected by someone. Fanciers who report pigeons should be offered a different option. Eating being one of them. I say only report them if you are prepard to keep them etc Amtrack has given fanciers the best excuse so far not to have them back, £30 or don't turn up at all.
  11. Karl you can have my strays if you like. The truth is I stopped reporting years ago, got fed up paying for my phone bill and the corn they ate. Had the same stories over the time. Even one who had lost it 5 years earlier coming to my house shouting his head off to my mom when I was at work. If he had rung first I would have put it to one side for him, I don't keep strays ever. Someone had had it in and thrown it out but could I tell him, no. He just kept ranting down the phone and I was doing him a favour. Last one never again.
  12. who cares just get faster pigeons. You are arguing over the past. Have not the club officials got enough to do?
  13. I look at the fancier who is selling. Is he racing in the very best company and doing ok. For me the company has to be the NFC. If they are doing ok there then they will win in competition which has closer lofts ie feds.
  14. interesting theory sounds good.
  15. no idea just hand over the cheque, far more important things to worry about
  16. Intersting replies. I have sent tehm back again at 400 miles after dropping at 12 and a half hours to win a good position. The best come and thats what we all are looking for ? If my birds were racing at 11 years old I would not think much of it although yours was a very good bird. I look at it this way if they are done at 3 years of age no problem, I bred emm and they are in the stockk loft form many years to come where i can drool over them every dat I go down to the loft.
  17. I see that the MNFC has Saintes and Bergerac on the same day, 500 miles and 560 miles to me. Three weeks later the NFC has Saintes again. 4 weeks before this Tarbes 670 miles. Would you send birds to both of these races over 500 miles in one season. I intend to send mine which includes the yearlings and yearling latebreds. How about you?
  18. went to a sale of Janssen birds just before Xmas. Sprinters sold for a silly large amount of money. Disatence birds seem to be worth little in comparison.
  19. I too brought a bird once, £120 quid. She was 1st sec twice 660miles in the NFC and scorred at the same race every year for 5 years. She went into the stock loft and bred 8 ybs who also went into the stock loft. Those ybs were 15 quid each and worth every penny. That cock and his brother were bargains.
  20. Everyone of mine will cross the channel a number of times. If they perofrm to my desired type they go 674 miles. Thats right yearlings at 674miles. All will go 500 to 560 miles but some to the longer one.
  21. This time 18 months.
  22. I knew his son was remaining in the sport but his advert had a lot of birds in it. I liked their birds, I was contemplating ringing them up but with so many good distance men about it was like being a kid in a candy shop.
  23. John has passed away this year, a lot of his birds were up for sale recently.
  24. Yes they crossed them with their Van Hees with great success.
