  1. Thanks matey
  2. Hi guys, does anyone have, or know where I could get my hands on a couple of pairs of white King pigeons please? I would be willing to collect individual birds from different locations if only singles are available. Any help much appreciated, thanks guys Lee
  3. I always give the birds every supplement separate that way they only take what they need and when. The red pick pots are a staple part of their requirements all year around. I believe the red stone has medicinal properties, similar to nature programmes when you see parrots eating clay etc. 2014 season I had my young birds back from a race and a silver hen dropped in, went straight to the red pick stone, not the drinker or feeder. She filled up on it. She was the only bird that DIDN'T come down with young bird sickness that year. Now that might be a coincidence, but that hen knew she needed red stone, over and above a drink. It just confirmed to me that they know what they need more than I can predict.
  4. Happy St. Andrew's day folks
  5. I would guess you would water down the qualities of each parent, so their young won't race or spin/dive like their parents. And you won't be able to sell the young
  6. Good post, well spotted re the tail feathers. I have kelebeks myself, they are neat little birds. Got 4 in the nest right now and two this years young that I hand reared. Can't get the hand reared ones to fly. They won't leave me alone! Lee
  7. What does it fly like?
  8. You're right Archie, that's the problem with self white birds, they all look alike!
  9. Could be. Difficult when it's all white. Markings would be a better clue
  10. Turkish Kelebek?
  11. I've had two from them. Great service, great lofts, no hassle
  12. Relief when you find one back at the loft. Good to see Lyndsay
  13. Same as Seaforth. I have three of them and use plastic grills on top of paper. Room is tight at my place so they are just the ticket. They comfortably hold 10 birds, more at a push, just wish they did other colours than green! Lee
  14. Robscott are you still looking for whites? I've got a nest pair here ready to go this weekend, Roland Jansens, can text you a couple of photos if you pm me your number. Only asking because I'm down in Lancashire, but got a guy coming from Durham to collect a stray of his from me on Sunday and if he lets me pass you his number he might collect these for you if you're interested. RPRA rung and can be transferred. Message me if you want, thanks lee
  15. Reading some of the comments that the supporters post I cannot believe how biased some of these people's views are!!! They are totally blinkered to what's going on and just spouting the same constant nonsense!
  16. Morning! Same to you Fifer. It's a beautiful start to the day down here in Lancashire. My sunny morning routine continues, young birds out with what remains of my old bird team, youngsters disappear, old uns do a few circuits then back in for breakfast, feed the stock birds, then sit with a coffee to watch the youngsters coming back, whilst giving the dogs a bit of attention. Great mornings when it's like this. The wild birds are merrily fluttering about too. Only thing that spoils it is having to go to work in an hour!!! See you later fellas Lee
  17. I thought you meant there were 500 carcasses in the picture when all I could see were feathers! NOW I understand, and less of the "clown" you bar steward! Lee
  18. 500??? That's just the feathers from one or two isn't it???

    First Loft

Looks good enough to me mate, good job well done. I use any old wood preserver, but do a fair few coats to make sure I get every spot. Just one word of advice, whichever pair of birds use the nest box on the floor will also defend and occupy the floor space directly in front so keep the feeder and drinker well away otherwise the other birds will have to fight for them, or raise the boxes up a foot or two off the floor if you can. All the best Lee

    Regularity

Do you think that could affect their willingness to trap on return from training/race, depending on what time they return too? I know mine waste a few moments when they return from a race on their own compared to landing as a group from exercise or training. I put it down to lack of confidence. But I'd be interested to know whether people think their birds can be too regimented if you stick to a rigid timetable. Another example, because of work commitments I only used to exercise and train in summer after 5.30pm. Then when I started training at 7am the birds took hours to come, and I put it down to them getting confused. Lee
  21. Welcome Snowbird! Whereabouts in Lancs are you? I'm a Preston lad living in Burnley. Lee
  22. I've thought of these as a silent way of calling my tumblers down from the sky. BE AWARE though, make sure there are no aircraft anywhere nearby, especially low flying helicopters or light airplanes. I know it sounds daft but people are prosecuted for shining lasers at police helicopters, and in England it carries a prison sentence. Lee
  23. 5 members sent 177 to Shrewsbury. Quite a few not sent. I'm a week behind in their training so hope to send next week. Transporter turned up an hour earlier than expected so I suspect the clubs before us are sending fewer than usual too. All the best to everyone Lee
  24. Well done Lyndsay, good man. Lee
