Amazing at times, these pigeons of ours etc. Another one !!!!!!. A member of my club, (Its all true) found a squeaker (still squeaking) on his landing board etc one night (4 or 5 weeks old) & reported it. Contacted the owner & was having a good old chat to him ;D ;D like you do. then the bloke said !!!!!!!!! I will just pop round :) & pick it up etc, as he had lost it of the roof that morning. That might be a bit difficult my mate said to him :'( :'( :'( "LOL" because I'm 250 miles away from where you live. Enjoy.
