Not having the technology, to place my ugly face & facet on here (I'm Bald, Blind, no teeth & one leg etc)  ;D ;D ;D I'm afraid that I'm compelled to vote for Dovescot it's  :( & I'm  :'( . But lifes cruel at times !!!!!!!!!!.

No wonder our sport is going downhill faster & faster etc, stay 8) 8) 8) &  ;D when this is the best we have to vote on. At least their was a bit of class in the female category.

PS. Maybe next year it will be a better class of participant's to vote on  ;) ;) ;) but I have my doubts  :P :P :P.

    Enjoy.

    Enjoy.

  4.

Dinnae worry I'll fleece you no problem ;)

I'm sorry the judges in their wisdom  ;) ;) ;)  ;D ;D ;D. Decided you just showed to much "Class"  to make it fair contest at the finish, Dovescot !!!!!!! & eliminated you from the final,

(you were a monty). A bit of money being wagered on the final outcome, (I think) & it has to be the only answer for what they did to you.

Life is very cruel at times  :D :D :D but you will recover I'm sure.

Being one of the true hero's here ????????. My chioce is !!!!!!!!  I will take anyone between  1- 6 (Though I do like Hot Blondes etc).

At my age you can't be fussy, they say. It's  :(  I know, but it all catches up with most of us eventually.

PS. Well done to the winner whoever she may be , 1st prize is worth dying for, one could say ;) ;) ;). For what I see,  ::) ::) ::) when one uses their imagination, at what the looses are missing out on etc.

    Enjoy.

  5. I have 3 workine lurchers that are kenneled outside......and still I have trouble....

I subsequently bought a catch em alive racoon trap off ebay for £19......... ;D

I dont have problems with Rats anymore  ;D ;)

I might not be the brightest one here at times !!!!!!. But I think I get the picture in regards to the  ;D ;)  & one can only  :D about all those *ats which may mysteriously be disapearing in your neighbourhood  :D :D :D.

PS. All's fair in love & war etc, they say, Especially when one has a  *at problem.

    Enjoy

  6.

Dovescot!!!!!!!. Just looked at 883Girl's picture  ;D ;D ;D & I think your in a wee bit of trouble here,  :D :D :D if you are fantasizing that your in front etc, in this contest. If I could be so bold ????????/ Try a bit more make up etc, could help  ;) ;) ;). But I don't think so.

  7. very interesting poll,,,,,, sadly was told today that a young fancier 11 years old refused membership to a local pigeon club [that received a community grant ] to my mind this is outragious,,,,,,,,,,,,all because his dad new me ,,,sad ,,very sad ,allmost sick  [he was going to keep them in an 8 by 6 loft at his grandads ]  lives 6 miles from me  :-/ :-/ :-/ :'(

You really do wonder some times!!!!!!!, about the mentality of certain pigeon flyers etc & the decisions they make, when you read things like this,

it's quite  :( . &  one does wonder at times if this great sport has a future.

I was 9 years old in 1956, when I first had pigeons, "Just another novice"  & have had them since then.(Except for 2 years paid holiday, by the government  ;D ;D ;D in my early twenty's etc) & We had 30 odd members in our local junior club. Today you would be lucky, if you found that many in the whole state here (Size of England).  One can only laugh  ;D ;D ;D but it is rather  :(   in another way when one thinks of the future.

    Enjoy.

  8.

What sort of advice is that? Pigeon Racing is one of the few sports where physical disabilities can be successfully overcome. I suppose you would have given Jed Jackson the same advice.

ETS is playing a part in bringing the less physically adept amongst us onto a more equal footing and keeping fanciers in the sport.

I find it quite   :(  that in this day & age that we live now, someone wquld make such  a comment like (quote =422) in fact I'm  :o to think, that there are those people that think that people with a disability of any kind. Could not find some pleasure & enjoyment no matter how small it may be, from keeping pigeons of any description. Plus all the other advantages etc for them, & the pigeons concerned. Even if not quite kept, to the same high standards at times for the pigeons, which many believe they should be housed & treated in.

I have know doubt many  ;D ;D ;D &  :D :D :D would come from such an experience for the lucky ones, who attempted to join our great sport with a disability, if it was made easier for them to join.

PS. I think, E-clocks !!!!!!!!, could help solve many of the issues for the people concerned in this area.

    Enjoy.

  9. you can use any cheap indigestion tablets - it doesn't have to be Rennies - look on the label - Tesco own indgestion tablets (about 99p) contain 500mg of calcium carbonate - I break these into quarters, i/4 morning and evening for a couple of days has worked fine for me  ;D

You might also like to go to your local garden centre etc, & buy some Dolomite Lime & place it in pots for the birds to pick at,  through out the year, like I do, (calcium carbonate & magnesiun carbonate) it's cheap, & will not do any harm to your birds & could help solve your problem.

    Enjoy

  10. For showing purposes apple boddied, well balanced

Chrissy!!!!!!. My favorite pigeon  ;D ;D ;D is apple boddied & well balanced also, (She who must be obeyed)  but I doubt whether I could ever find a show that would except her.

PS. Pity !!!!!!, because she is a cracker, & would win by a country mile, in my view.

    :D :D :D :D :D

    Enjoy.

  11. i always spray the nest with duimitex it does help

i know new stuff comes out but wow so expensive

all i say is if it works for you never change :)

    George

Some here may have used in the past, "kerosene' like I still use today in the lofts at times, pretty potent stuff  ;D ;D ;D. Just don't smoke, or it could be interesting  :D :D :D what your future may be  ;) ;) ;).

    Enjoy.

  12. i for one have never used them but you hear good feedback, when mixing into corn when breeding.are they worth trying or not.. thanks

I'm quiet a believer in chicken layer pellets for pigeons, especially in the breeding season, 10 to 15% for me, 5% racing season. & No !!!!!!!!, they do not have anti-biotics added when used for the human chain line etc, or all of the rubbish under the sun in the mix, like some have said at times (Fools) via the internet. Methionine !!!!!!!!!!!,  B-12!!!!!!!!!, vit A, D, E, K are all part of the composition of the pellets that I use. 12-15 grains in the pellets, Meat & bone meal, fish meal blood meal, plus a wide variety of other items etc. just a terrific addition to the feed chain for pigeons in my view, & well worth a try.

PS, In my area, they are much cheaper than pigeon pellets to buy, so the money I save, I spend on the birds in some other area.

    Enjoy.

  13. Looks like it has all gone "Pear Shaped" ;D ;D ;D

    Personally I prefer small+/medium

I think so also  ;) ;) ;). Please don't tell (she who must be obeyed) but I prefer "Hot Blondes"  ;D ;D ;D pear shaped & small to medium.

PS. If you are talking about pigeons etc !!!!!!!!!!!, I will go for pear shaped.

    :D :D :D

    Enjoy.

  14. viola tricolor probably one of the best, but, can you still get it bruno ?

"Of course you can", you can either buy it as a herb tea, from a health food store etc. Or do as I do, & grow your own, lovely flower for your garden, purple & yellow in colour, & they look terrific in the garden. When they die off, you boil the whole plant in hot water 10 minutes then mix with sugar & let stand to cool. after a week or so, skim of the residue which rises to the top of the container which it is stored in, then use every week in water troughs once or twice as a general tonic.

PS One of those Old Hand remedies etc, from the past (Old but good), I use 40mls per bucket  = 10litres.

    Enjoy.

  15. will it hurt to have the stock pigeons flight on the grass ill have 4 birds coming soon

and im building i flight for them till the loft is done

will it hurt them to have the flight on the grass in me garden

    thanks

Not generally recommended if in a wet climate etc, concrete or raised galvanized steel floor/mesh better option in my view.

Don't be afraid though, to give your birds now & again a tuft of grass from your garden, many of them will really enjoy it, & it's cheap.

    Enjoy

  16. Many years ago (& I mean many years ago  ;D ;D ;D) I purchased 1, How to become & stay a champion & 2, Succesful methods with young & old birds, both written by Jules Gallez, a bit out of date now I amagine for many here.  But as relevant in my view for today's racing, as when they were first printed.

PS, Never quite made the champion status  :P;) ;) ;), but it certainly was not the  fault of the books etc.

    Enjoy.

  17. wishing all members a happy new year and the best of health for 2008 :)

I wish to  add my voice to the above also. Especially to all the old timers here "lifers' as I like to put it, I'm  :-/  whether most of us are mad or stupid etc, or maybe it's only me  ;D ;D ;D who would really know.

I understand for many here, :P :P :P who shortly will be heading out for a wild night on the town etc, to celebrate the New year, it's rather on the cool /cold side of things. One could say  :D :D :D.

Well here for me, at the moment  ;) ;) ;) it's 42 degrees celsius & rising, just before I set out for a night of enjoyment with the family. So !!!!! see what you all are missing out on.  8) 8) 8)

    Enjoy.

  18. silly me,  ;D allways thought a distance was a straight line from a.   to   b.   when in fact ,, old chriss columbus ;D ;D ;D [deceased ;D] found out years ago that this was not the fact :)  as the world is round , the true distances are actualy in an arc , which at 600 miles can make a differance ,,,,well your never to old to learn ;D [and admit it ;D]

Is it!!!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D, you learn something new every day, I'm  :o to find that out ?  at this late stage in life  ;D ;D ;D

GPS, "Yes" they do plot every flyers position in their back yard etc, via  the satilites above, but as Roland mentioned the big bonus is on race day etc if for some reason the birds can not be liberated at the designated liberation point. They just move to a position if possible where the birds can be liberated, & plot a new distance for everyone via computers & GPS in minutes, so that when you present your clock for the pullover, everything is worked out as normal.

GPS  belongs in the same boat as E-CLOCKS !!!!!!! & anyone who does not see them as an advancement for our sport in this day & age, must be a bit like an ostrich, which I find a bit  :(.

    Enjoy

PS, If there happens to be any ostriches here !!!!!!!! :D :D :D I'm lucky I live where I do. So you will never be able to catch me  ;D ;D ;D fortunately.

  19. : :D :D :D :D

When one talks about old books etc, I've just recently been fortunate enough  to be able read in full, the "Book on Pigeons" by Robert Fulton (nearly 400 pages). What an extroadinary piece of dedication on his behalf, to our sport by the author. When one considers when it was first published etc, a true masterpiece in every sense of the word in my view, even today.

    PS, It cost me !!!!!, a good deed & 3 bags of pigeon sh**  :D :D :D

    Enjoy.

  20. "Herbal", every time for me, smart people those chinese etc, they have been around a wee bit longer  ;D  ;D ;D than anyone here I suspect  ;) ;) ;). Some of their potions/medicines etc may appear a bit strange !!!!!  to many of us one could say. But they certainly can be put to good use, in all walks of life, including our pigeons.

"True Story"  :D :D :D  Less than 10 minutes drive or a good punt kick  :X (a bit to far for those that prefer that round ball)  from where I type this now, is a world renowned pigeon vet. Many would have heard of him or read his books etc & I have seen where he now ships all his 'GOODIES"  ;D ;D ;D as I like to call them, by the container load off overseas. To all those misguided frustrated & desperate pigeon flyers etc to buy. On the off chance, it may help them win a race or two. :( :( :(  If they only knew what I know.

PS, I have never spent one dollar on any of his goodies  ;) ;) ;)  etc, & I never will,  & if by chance he was to read the above & figure it out. I would never get one step/foot inside his clinic.

    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

    Enjoy

  21. at the moment the rpra will only take mao readings they do not accept gps or google earth

STRANGE!!!!!!!!!!!. Could you please explain to me the reasons why they do not except GPS readings etc, (strange attitude) in my view in this eviroment that we live & race our birds today, GPS is the most accurate system for what I have seen for many a year, for plotting everyones loft position & also the distances from all the race points etc to ones loft.

    Enjoy.
