  1. hi.

Really thinking of leaving the sport. One of my cocks was out flying with his hen and when his hen came down he was gone. The only place i can think he went is down someones chimney and the thought of this poor pigeon down there is disturbing me. How do i just forget this pigeon as a loss. Its driving me bonkers.

At times "sh** just Happens, so to speak"  ;D ;D ;D Just like life in general  :D :D :D So toughen up a wee bit  ;) ;) ;) & breed another one to replace it. Because if its driving you bonkers ?????? etc. May I suggest to you  :P :P :P a stress management course, if you wish to have a long & enjoyable time in this sport  ::) ::) ::).

    Enjoy.

  2. I am still waiting for mine to arrive sent him in his first race in 1988, he'll be here soon. :P

    Enjoy.

  3. The Inland Revenue decides to audit Paddy, and summons him to an appointment with the most thorough auditor in the office.

The auditor is not surprised when Paddy shows up with his solicitor.

The auditor says, "Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, which you explain by saying that you win money

gambling. I'm not sure the Inland Revenue finds that believable."

"I'm a great gambler, and I can prove it," says Paddy. "How about a demonstration?"

The auditor thinks for a moment and says, "Okay. You're on!"

Paddy says, "I'll bet you a thousand pound that I can bite my own eye."

The auditor thinks a moment and says, "No way! It's a bet."

Paddy removes his glass eye and bites it.

    The auditor's jaw drops.

Paddy says, "Now, I'll bet you two thousand pound that I can bite my other eye."

The auditor can tell Paddy isn't blind, so he takes the bet.

Paddy removes his dentures and bites his good eye.

The stunned auditor now realises he has bet and lost three thousand quid, with Paddy's solicitor as a witness. He starts to get nervous.

"Would you like to go double or nothing?" Paddy asks. "I'll bet you six thousand pound that I can stand on one side of your desk and pee into that rubbish bin on the other side, and never get a drop anywhere in between."

The auditor, twice burned, is cautious now, but he looks carefully and decides there's no way Paddy can manage that stunt, so he agrees again.

Paddy stands beside the desk and unzips his trousers, but although he strains like hell, he can't make the stream reach the bin on other side, so he pretty much urinates all over the auditor's desk.

The auditor leaps with joy, realising that he has just turned a major loss into a big win. But Paddy's solicitor moans and puts his head in his hands.

"Are you okay?" the auditor asks.

"Not really," says the solicitor. "This morning, when Paddy told me he'd been summoned for an audit, he bet me £20,000 that he could come in here and p*ss all over your desk - and that you'd be happy about it!"

Mujibar was trying to get a job in India .

The Personnel Manager said, "Mujibar, you have passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass it , you cannot qualify for this job."

    Mujibar said, "I am ready."

The manager said, "Make a sentence using the words Yellow, Pink and Green .."

Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said, "Mister manager, I am ready"

    The manager said, "Go ahead."

Mujibar said, "The telephone goes green, green, and I pink it up, and say, ' Yellow' , this is Mujibar."

Mujibar now works at a call center.

No doubt you have spoken to him. I know I have.

  9. Well i wish i had weather like that, but here in Iceland we had the worst day this winter yesterday, started with snow in the morning but turned into wind up to 40 meters per second and heavy rain midday and until midnight.Today it´s snowing again, some wind but the temp is +3 degrees.

Paired up wednesday, the birds are in super condition and all pairs paired up by friday. They don´t seem to mind the weather.

Hogni!!!!!! absolute crap day here also yesterday, I had the fire going to warm the house up etc. Middle of summer here  ;D ;D ;D Extraordinary  :D :D :D. It most probably be 40-45 degrees next week, the way the weather changes so much now.

I hope that loft of yours is well & truly tied down  ;) ;) ;) or it might just be heading south like I mentioned in a previous post  :) :) :) with your weather at the moment, as it is.

Bewarned !!!!!!!!. Those that are about to attack me ?????? here  :D :D :D I can bring in some real "Big Guns" to stand by my side etc, in taking on the barrage, one could say  :) :) :). Which I assume  :) :)  is about to be fired.

  12. Hello all, I am getting close to ordering my new loft now but am unsure which style is going to suit me (and the birds) best.

I have noticed that what I traditionally think of as a loft (lots of nice dowels in the front) seems to be a bit out of date,  I am reading a lot of articles on how important it is to have the right amount of ventilation is this the reason for so many lofts been made with window panels in the front? idealy I would like a more traditional looking loft with the right ventilation but dont quite know how this would be achieved ! your coments a pics of any designs would be most welcome, by the way I am looking at a loft around 20x8 ft. thanx in advance for your help. :)

What ever type of loft you decide to purchase etc, you will find in most cases, that

adjustments will have to be made at times, for many diiferent reasons. Re weather, birds, position, direction & humidity etc. Spend a bit of time getting the humidity correct 50-60% in your loft, & you will be well on the way to being successful in this sport, in my view.

    Enjoy.

  13. thanx roland, kev, jimmy, lennut tar and carlsberg for your replies/tips     while im picking your brains can anybody explain why you shouldnt train in a east wind?  i know im only a novice and there,s probably a good reason but im thinking that surely a wind from any direction can blow a pigeon off course?  why is a east wind any different?  do pigeons not get liberated on race days in east winds?  i know these are probably stupid questions to all you old hands but i cant fathom this east wind thing?   who,s gonna educate me?

                                     debbie   :)

Debbie !!!!!! there is no such thing  ;) ;) ;) as a stupid question etc here, on this site. Ask away ?????? what ever you like. Thou some of the answers  ;D ;D ;D you may get in return,  :D :D :D could be placed in the stupid catorgory  ::) ::) ::). But thats up to you to sort out.

    Enjoy.

  19. top canadian guy was 12 place, he also has a bird in 74 place so he has 2 birds in top 100

i wonder what his birds will sell for,

The thing that intrigued me with this race etc "Was" 5000 to 5500 birds at the start of the season 1500 at the finish ???????? a lot of money down the drain there for some reason !!!!!!! & it took them quite a while to get them home, one could say. "Management System" ????????? Maybe they had better shorten the race distance again !!!!!! to get a few more home, to keep everyone happy.

    Enjoy.

  20.

you only get ripped of if you buy the products keep them natural and use herbs IF you need them

It was a brilliant night, great fun was had by all. ;D

;D ;D ;D I do hope Chickadee !!!!!!!  :P :P :P that you made Dovescot shave her legs etc, with that skirt she?????? :) :) :) wore for the night, before she paraded herself ????, before everyone  :D :D :D. We must not let our standards appear to drop  ;) ;) ;) for any reason whatsoever, when out for a wild night on the town, as such.

    Enjoy.

  22. ohh come on it´s not all that bad, ok it´s cold now but usually we very mild winters and little snow and the summers are very mild too, not too hot but always between 10 and 25 degrees, i remember reading and seeing on the news about the summer in England 2007, very good was it?

Merlin, here we have very few problems with predators, once in awhile a folcon comes for a visit but they usually cause no harm, we know very few of the diseases we read about on the internet and we do not drug our birds mainly because we have no pigeon medicine here but if a bird gets sick it usually has to go and i believe thats what has kept the racing pigeons of Iceland healthy, what do you mean with B.O.P. ??

    Lennut Tar,

Take a look at this site and maybe you will change your mind about visiting

    http://www.luminous-landscape.com/locations/iceland.shtml

Hogni!!!!! I took your advise etc  ;D ;D ;D & had a nice look/visit "Interesting" thanks for the info ??????. Now which town on the map do you live near  :D :D :D Just in case ???, I decide to come for a holiday  :) :) :);) ;) I enjoyed the sheep story etc, we have millions of them here  ;D ;D ;D & the biggest desert in the world is in my back yard, one could say & it gets to 40 - 45 degrees on a good day  ;D ;D ;D & it just shows us, how our pigeons can adapt to just about anything to survive. Along with us humans etc  :P :P :P.

    Enjoy.

  23. I tell you what you would get my vote for fancier of the year win or not! That is one hell of a place to keep birds. Not sure if my birds would die out in those conditions but I know I would   :)

I will 2nd that !!!!!!!. What a place to have pigeons etc  ;D ;D ;D let alone live there. Your a brave young man, is all I can say & much  tougher than I'm now  :P :P :P  Imagine it ??????? could you, when the wind got up to around gale force etc. I could see the loft & pigeons  :D :D :D 1/2 mile up in the sky heading south at a 100 mph.

Terrific photo's. Love the skyline, very interesting !!!!!!. But you can have it all to yourself I'm afraid  :D :D :D

    PS No names  ;) ;) ;) But I know one place, I won't be going for a holiday  :) :) :).

    Enjoy.
