Blackpool !!!!!!!!!! Sounds as if ????????? to me, if theres a dollar to be made, they will sell it there :P . Now !!!!!! just go to your local supermarket & buy iodized salt, thats all you have to do "Nothing fancy". Also !!!!!!!! go to your local hardware store etc, & buy a bag of pool salt 25kg's, it's cheap & put a cup full in there bath at times, it all helps. But never give this salt to your birds to eat, or you could be in trouble. Enjoy.

One way to still have an open loft etc & over come the problem of the hawks getting into your loft, shall we say. Is to train your birds to go out through bob wires at one level, but when they wish to come back in, they have to use another lot of bob wires at a different level. One way out only & One way in only. it really does work & the birds soon learn how to operate the system. There is a small chance that a hawk could find its way through the bobs etc, but its only ever happened to me once in my time, so I believe its well worth the effort, to set up this system if one preferes an open loft. Enjoy.

Steve what you say is very true, trouble is these days etc many would much prefer to rush of & buy all the fancy stuff that we all know now. They forget or just do not relize unfortunately ??????? because it comes in a plain brown paper bag etc it just carn't be any good now. Many here I'm sure would remember white washing their lofts in the old days with builders lime, it was quite normal in many areas, before we started to make to much money ;) & then started to buy all the fancy stuff. Now !!!!!!! I can understand why some here have the believe that they have, in regard to this subject. But don't always believe ??????? what the experts tell you, you just watch now everything !!!!!!!!! tends to go round in a big circle. If some expert says something is black, you can bet your bottom dollar that in the future, another expert will say it's white :) . Now for the disbelievers !!!!!!!!!!. Builders lime/limil, Hydrated lime/slaked lime with calcium hydroxide etc. "Uses" Water treatment, sanitation, whitewashing & pollution treatment plus many other uses. Unfortunately its cheap & thats it's biggest problem today for what I see. Enjoy.

No good me !!!!!!!!!, telling you brand names Celtic ;) , just pop down to your local grain store. Pigeon pellets, turkey pellets & chicken pellets etc all to a degree have much & much the same ingrediants in them. the cost may vary somewhat I imagine thou. My choice is chicken layer pellets with Methionine in them, along with all the other goodies ;D ;D ;D. Also !!!!!!!! I'm quite happy to give my stock birds rabbit pellets at times, just terrific for the greens in my view & I've never had any trouble with my birds eating any of them at any stage. Enjoy.

I think this could be true etc, & why would you not feed them at different times & at different %. There is not a grain that we use for pigeons in my view, that has all the minerals & vitamins in them so to speak, that the average pellet has in them. Even Dr Walker will sell them to you ;D ;D ;D. So they must be good. Enjoy.

But ;) , I did win grand champion of the last show I was in here :) with a hen, that was 1st club 3rd fed & 6th national 400miles etc & she was just typical in condition :P to most of my birds I'm afraid. PS, Dovescot!!!!!!!!!!. Yes ??????? it could have something to do with it etc. But I have a microscope that I use, if & when I think I may have a problem. Well worth the investment in my view & it's amazing what you can find on top of a pin head :P , so to speak. Enjoy.

Builders lime also would be a bit dodgy in my view, in with the minerals etc. but dolomite lime would be ok, as it's basically calcium carbonate & I've used it for years now. Enjoy.
