  13. yes magpies are classed as vermin as they kill all youngsters in the nest such as black birds thrushes, anything that has a nest in bushes or open land,a friend of mine caught 37 2 years ago it doesnt matter how many you catch theres allways onother to take there places ,they also feed on dead rabbits ect that lies dead on the roads after been run over by cars ect if youve a chance of getting rid of them you do so.cheers billy

  17. well said mark agree with everything you said the price of petrol is the killer for training this year,20mile per gallon for my car and the same for my mate both have old volvos, but will have to cut something out to get them down the road there was always a chap used to come with a box trailer for 1.50 a basket be there was greedy sods used to fill a basket between two or three of them the lad got wise and stopped coming ,theres always one or two who will always spoil it fo others.

  20. i would just like to add about young bird training, how many fanciers take there birds training when it is overcast ours never go unless there is broken cloud there has to be sunrays getting through somewhere before our birds go training,i think there are a lot of fanciers start to panic when it gets near to the first race and they have to train at all costs.i would sooner miss the first race than train in poor conditions,i know birds will come through rain no bother as long as they get a good start and there not far from home but they cant come long distances through bad weather there is always one or two will get through but i always say better be safe as sorry, had first toss this morning only from 6 miles just to get them used coming out of the baskets.the trouble in scotland there is that much open land they can get miles out of the road,in my area in county durham all the birds come north if they get past they are only a few miles past our lofts unless they hit birds training going south which doesnt happen very often.this is only my opinion and not in anyway meant to affend anyone. billy
  21. how can these convoyers expect birds to come through 400 miles at least in terrible conditions p*ss--g down with rain where do they get there line of flight from i know we get some bad races in the up north combine but not half as many as you guys up there my heart bleads for you and the pigeons.you put all the effort in getting the pigeons in the right conditions for these long races and a click of the fingers all gone,an absolute disgrace some one has to be sacked or there will be no more pigeons left in scotland to fly, what can i say to all you lads to make it any better-------------impossible all i can say is good look lads billy
