  16. Hi all I went in the loft this morning and found a young hen with a black scab on her side and another on her shoulder. The one on her shoulder is bleeding and i have used talc to dry this up. The scab on her side is about half a inch in size. I have had a bird with a similar problem about five year ago and was told to tye a piece of cotton around the base of the scab. This worked then but this time the scab looks to be weeping blood and is in a difficult place to tye cotton on as it is close to the top of her leg. I have checked all other birds in the loft and cannot find any others . Any advice on what this is and how to treat and prevent it would be most welcome. Thanx michael

  22. My nabouring club has just been awarded 8 grand from the lottery and all members are to get E T S . However 3 of the older members have decided they do not want the change and now are looking to join my club in the future. I can understand both sides of the argument i personaly would welcome the system as i belive it benefits the birds by not being grabbed when returning from a stressful race. i had a hen a few year ago that won 8 first club prizes i went in one day and caught her and she never trapped again (my fault over excited). After descussing E T S with my members it seems the older members are against it and i would not like to break the club up over this. I think we will wait a while to see how things go in the future.

  24. Never herd of maize causing problems with karel hermans. I have been flying karel hermans for about 5 years and i feed them on premier gold . this contains maize and i have won the old bird inland average for 4 out of the last five years in my club mainly with the hermans. They seem quite carm and are not hyper active in any way. Hope this helps... michael
