Would be nice but i'am not bothered as long as the bird gets home, i think all birds are allowed to make a mistake especialy YBs, i travel up to Scotland most mondays and have released a few up there in the last month i have released maybe 5 in the lanarkshire area 1 for lanark it self, a friend of mine got this bird in and asked me to release it near Lanark the owner called him the next day to thank him and let him know that the bird got home ok.
  3. When i have had birds with broken legs i have left them in a widowhood hen box with about 3 inches of shavings and left them for about 2 weeks a small box so they can't move around to much and don't have to move to far for food or water, after this length of time they are normaly able to be returned to there loft.
  4. Hi i was wondering about doing the round about system next year or trying could anybody advice me as which books or DVDs to but and were i could get them, Cheers

    CRAZY IDEA???

Excellent idea Spin, it seems from some of the comments that it will not suit all for on reason or another, though with everyone haveing to tighten there purse strings any way of getting your birds home would help. I think the above qoute from phil is a must if this were to go ahead at some point in the future. I travel to Scotland every mondat morning and last week i liberated 7 pigeons in diferant areas onthe way up, i must say 5 of them were brought to me by other fanciers. And i know that at least 3 of them got home safely, 3 happy people, as i say any way to help get birds back to the rightfull owner cannot be a bad idea.

  15. sorry to butt in on the thread, but may be you could give me some advice my pigeons are sneezing also but do not have dirty wattles, I am sending them to there first race on saturday do you think that it would be alright to treat them for respitorty before the race as a precausion, or should i wait until they return from the race. sorry again for butting in on the thread, VMT

    sat race

I will probaly take your advice. as you say the choice is ours, but as i said before a bit of coomon sense would not go a miss. when every week we read here on pigeon basics about massive losses all over the country.

    sat race

I think that clubs should basket saturday night for a race on sunday, i also think we should use a bit of common sense when it comes to young birds, a hold over for them looks enivitable if basketed on the friday.
  18. Thanks, this is what i was hoping for.

  23. Hi i wonder if any body may be able to advice me on my young birds, They have had a touch of young bird sickness over 2 weeks ago but seem fine now they are flying an hour in the morning and an hour at night and are being trained from 30 mile and are seeming to come well, but there are a few in the loft that are holding corn in there crops when i check them in a morning, none of them seem to be sick the droppings are fine and there in no sick on the perches in the morning, i have treated for canker and coccsi, could any body advice why they are still holding corn. Thanks Wings
