  2. if i get a stray in(and i get a lot in) i'll phone the owner or their club sec to get their number i'll look after their bird if i can i'll try and put it on the transporter to get it a bit closer to home(at owner's request) as this is what i'd want if i got 1 of mine in somebody's loft ,they're only babies after all if they get split from their group of pigeons they'll fly with anything for safty
  3. best of luck to you vic for having a go
  4. hi inv.spirit don't worry m8 i'm not in the wnr i ment turning my team south i've had a try this year and enjoyed it , i've been flying in the south west wales+west wales fed on the east route but i'm hooked on the barcelona race and want to build a team on the south to have a go in the future
  5. i currently live in west wales(far west section on the south east route)i'm turning south not for the flying in wales but to fly in the english organisations we've only been going since 2004 but we've already joined the bbc(100% returns this year in every race apart from palamos 1 from 2) in the next couple of years we plan to join the bicc+nfc and in time race in the internationals , easier or less compitetion....i don't think so, were you flying to roland ?
  6. i like to race young birds until they get to bad in the moult then i put them away, it does'nt matter to me if they've had 1 race or 10 although they would have been trained out to about 50 mls
  7. all the racers would have reared young in the racing shed , i suppose it's a bit like total w/hood exept you could be sending both of the pair to the race
  8. i fly the roundabout, i have 3 sections were the cocks are kept with a corridor along the front leading to an avairy on the end were i keep the hens, when the cocks go out the sputniks are closed and the hens are let into the sections they are then locked in their section while the cocks fly, when the cocks come in they trap into the corridor and are ushered into the aviary, the hens then go out and the cocks are allowed back into their section, when the hens have had their fly they trap into the corridor and are moved back into the avairy. on race days they all trap to their boxes and are allowed together for a while(no set time period)hens are fed in the avairy, cocks in their boxes, last year(my first full season with old birds) on this system my birds scored in the cards in every old bird race ,winning inland av.(upto 240mls)and r-up channel+combined av.(upto 422mls)
  9. i've decided to turn south as it gives more options on the longer races
  10. only had 3 back so far this morning so still 19 behind and 4 of them were 1,2,4,5th sect last week 1,323birds
  11. birds well spread out and thin on the ground only had 8 from 30 on the day another guy in my club had 5 from 18 and 1 chap had 0(zero) from 27 sent ,i think with that north wind yesterday the birds went down towards lands end some crossed the channel coming in over the gower, the majority turned back heading back into the wind towards bristol(i hope)to dog leg back along south wales this morning
  12. welsh south road fed liberated today at 1.35 from lyndhurst
  13. our birds(welsh south road fed)only went away today for lib in the morning hopefully, from lyndhurst 115 mls to me, sent 30 had to leave a few at home cause of the moult
  14. i've also used them and found them very friendly if they don't make it and you ask them they might make it for you

  20. thunderboult

    Pigeons

go back and get her and settle her in your loft you never know she may be 1 of robert ben's lol
  21. nice and sunny in swansea there's a bit of cloud about but it's blowing through quickly good westerly blow waiting for the birds to come back from training good head wind for them
  22. hey wilcox what sort of prices do these belgium's sell for over here and we not talking about great grand children... hey wilcox i just noticed what you said 20 winners reported from 400 or so sent out that equals 1 in 20 you got more chance with louella's than that and they work out at about £20 each
  23. i remeber years ago when i was a kid this old chap showing me this dutch cock he got , i'll tell you a story about this cock he said, i sent it to lerwick in a race and he flew back to holland where he was from the guy out there fed it up and let it go about a week later and it flew back to south wales(although it took 2 days to get back)
  24. hey swilcox i had a hen home from palamos this year 753mls bred from a great grand son of de barcelona+inv.spirit so no loss of homing instinct there also since 2004 i've had about 40 birds from louella and not a single 1 as died ,well not in the loft anyway, it's all down to what ind. fanciers prefer some like louella some don't
  25. it depends, if your on the dark it should be ok to race em right through if natural a lot will depend on their condition, i fly mine natural and some will have to be stopped this week i think, and they've only had 2 races(103mls) ,but any i think that are in good enough condition i send on it does'nt bother me if they've had 1 race or 10 , i've found the score as old birds regardless of how many races they had as a yb, infact 1 of my best cocks was a unraced latebred just flown round the loft as a yb,6 races to 150mls as a yearling(taking a card in last one) he scored in 4 nationals last year(2 inland/2 channel)
