  1. my guess is a hawk may have frightened them and as they've been away for 4 days they must have had a drink somewhere if there was a layer of scum or oil on top of some water somewhere it would leave a mark as they dunk their heads in it

    FOXES

what was that programme when the fella moved out to the countryside to live off the land? anyway in 1 of the episodes when he got his chickens he was told to put human hair in tights and hang them around the enclosure were the chicks were kept as the sent would keep foxes away ,i don't remember him losing any chickens

  7. hey bart if you want them to fly in nationals you got to teach em to break from other birds and the only way to do it is send em, i sent 4 yearlings to longest race last year(422mls)welsh south east nat,and got all of them 1 was first bird to the loft from 19 sent(vel 1219),3 on the day 1 early next morning(he'd been jumped from 120mls)i fly in the far west section, what do you want in the shed birds or birds that can fly the longer races, do you train your birds from the opposite direction they race in case they go over as this can help
  8. the welsh south east national had a dodgy race from oudenaarde yesterday many birds missing and well spread out

  20. 1 of my best racers last year(scored in 4 nationals) was a latebred in 2004 only flew around the loft, 2005 6 races to 150mls then 2006 flew every race
  21. i've bought a couple of kits from lpw and on the whole they've been rubbish but i have got 1 good cock from 6 van geels bought in 2004,won from messac last week, but the birds i've bought for stock are doing very well when matched with local performance birds
  22. hi guys i started in the sport in 2004 buying stock birds from diffrent lofts+studs, i have'nt treated them for anything i've never had yb sickness or any other sickness i've had to get rid of 1 or 2 birds but has'nt everyone,i use ultimate 4/5 times a week, gemthepax on corn 3/4 days a week, garlic oil on corn 1/2 days a week, breeders will have access to homaform and 4 diffrent grits(mixed) but i leave the droppings on the floor(they dry quickly as i have good ventilation)and i think this helps to build their natural resistance ,i very rarely lose birds even on days when a lot of people are(100% returns this weekend from france to west wales(far west section)i've noticed in recent years that fanciers are keeping their lofts spotless but soon as their birds come into contact with other birds they've got to treat em with this or that just to keep em going which i think is the wrong way to go. ps they're also in the prizes very often first ever yb race 1st+2nd, from france on the weekend sent 2 1st+3rd.
