I have a little christmas money left. I like the look of the Jan Theelans so may have a dabble if any there at a reasonable price. Taking wife so can't let her see how much my new hobby is costing!!i see Louella are also taking some pairs for £40 so may have a look at those. Anyone know if any Jan Theelans will be sold there.

How Often Do You Treat Your Loft, Externally?
The engineer replied to sapper756's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
I am thinking of using UPVC cladding this will hopefully mean i don't need to treat it.Hopefully will save some time so i can spend more with the birds -
Not sure if it is classed as a specialist club however i fly in a 6 bird club. This allows us new starters to have a dabble. The other club may have some members sending 100+ birds each this makes it really difficult to compete.

I went last year and stayed in travel inn/premier inn. a little out of town but a good price and good food i will book again for next year. Few drunk irishmen don't know how some of them were standing pints for breakfast green with envy i am a light weight on the drink these days.

New Loft Pics And A Small Video
The engineer replied to lvlasked's topic in Lofts, Fixtures & Fittings
Looking good mate. I would try and stop them sitting on the partition as mine were doing this and then i found them hard to handle as they were getting high up. I would also keep my eye on the wire mesh as it can split feathers. I am putting in false ceilings in mine as it is so high they were becoming wild in the front sections. I am also getting a 10x8 YB loft can't wait to get started on that one as well. Looked at your pigeons they are looking good what are the reds (i am a sucker for reds and mealies). Good luck with the loft next year hope it brings success. -
I use the unikon system. Its really good simple to use. It is fairly expensive however ideal for shift workers. The club assign the rings not the individual. I would recommend it to anyone to use

Just bought a 10 x 8 yb loft going to try darkness next year.
-
Budgies used to go mad for it not sure about pigeons i would imagine they would go for it.
-
Once again the UNC do it. Its still one race. I think the issue with releasing all together is the drag. A release of say 20 mins should not give you 2 races.
-
Everyone has different ideas human nature i suppose however because of this nothing will change and these posts/debates will continue for the next 30 years
-
All i am saying is it can still be a national with a split liberation. We have our national this week after been delayed looks like going thurs for a fri lib maidstone
-
Don't the UNC liberate in groups its still a national.
-
Mine is about 9' next year i am putting a false ceiling in to keep the YB's under control they fly over my head at the moment does my head in.

Not sure mate i think its a trade name could be wrong. I personally don't like a lot of water on the floor even if it has bleach in it. I like the loft to be bone dry. I even have the drinkers on mesh panels that allow ventelation in but also allows any water spilt to drain out. Some people use sand i think there is many ways to rome. I scrape out every day however i prefer to use the time watching/enjoying the birds so don't spend hours on it. I think most people find what works for them and then stick to it. No 2 fanciers have the same methods.
-
I use easy bed on the floors of my lofts. I think it is originally used for horses it is dust fee etc. I then scrape all the perches into a bucket. I change the bedding regularly the birds seem to enjoy having it on the floor particularly the young ones. I have used V18 (i think thats the number) as a disinfectant it can be sprayed etc.

How much would you take for them mate. I am in my first year and have lost 11 of my starting 29 so have plenty of room unfortunately. I am worrying about next year at this rate i will have no OB's
