  2. quite true iam always losing good reds or getting them home hawked and i mean good reds not tubes,pity really as most good distance familys wer red pigeons and i find with a few reds in the loft the seem to be dominating the loft for colours although iam tryin to keep more dark coloured birds but its hard when the best birds in the loft are reds.

  4. thats what i said about baytril to but nobody would believe me i cured young bird sickness in three days with it and they wer dying with it actually two died before i started using it although i only use it as a cure not a preventitive and they flew channel same year its really amazing stuff but i dont abuse it.

  8. ive tried vinegar it doesnt work might as well p*ss in the water try household fly spray it does work about one pound a tin in the supermarket.

  10. you probably have 2 many birds in the shed 12 birds is enough for a 8x6 loft then in winter once or twice is nearly enough to scrape out providing you sprinkle some sawdust or shavings over the floor and under perches etc then you should see the birds come into show condition providing they are parasite free it really isnt rocket science unless as old yellow says the cocks are driving the hens and tramping through droppings etc if you cant split them up open your loft more they shoulnt drive as much in a colder loft but make sure rain cant blow in o and feed them half mixture half barley per day this should solve your problem good luck.

    a dog is the only answer i had to get one ,problem sorted but you need one that wont touch the birds ther hard to get the other solution is buy an electric cattle fencer ther about 90 quid and aroll of fencer wire 10 quid this put up properly will solve ur problem once the cat gets akick hell never come back ther very good and well worth it many fanciers here use them then neighbours can keep all the cats they want but ur birds will be safe.

  14. i use whatever i have straw cut short or tobaco stalks but i always thought pine needles wer the best i dont spray them either i dont think u need to as if u chew one u will taste pine and insects dont like pine oil i lucky cause i live near aforest wer ther is lots of pine trees and the needles are about 3 inches thick lying below them try them ther good if corn merchants could bag them do u not think they would sell them of course they would.

  16. must be terrible tryin to race over there i never ever get trouble with hawks ,simply they cant catch them the birds r to quick and crafty as ther on 24hr open hole with a pit bull dog patrolling the garden my birds r what is known as street wise u never see hawks take ferals or woodys ask urself y cause they know ther streetwise they would rather have a big fat slow easy caught homer any way hope ur birds r ok my heart goes out to any one is troubled with that vermin good luck mate it angers me.
