Does large birdage flatter to deceive? ie Quality of competition or performance? Or does the large area of the fed flatter to deceive

I remember a fancier came in my old lofts it was 48x10ft it had 7 sections with floor grills with a 4 foot corridor...the fancier said grills were for lazy fanciers....I went to his lofts not long after they looked like he hadn't cleaned out in 5 year pmsl
