  1. I was told they had a hunting route and that they'd come by near enough the same time each day. Have to say I've found this to be a complete load of B***ocks. My doos are on an open loft and I've had visits here at all times of the day. Basically they come whenever doos are out and they fancy their chances.
  2. Hoping to send around 50 with the Northwest Fed to Otterburn. They've had a good week up until now so we'll see what the weekend brings
  3. To be honest I'd be a bit dissapointed if a fit, healthy pigeon couldn't get itself home from 80miles regardless of wind direction or weather barring of course freak conditions.
  4. One of my picks is gay and has been sitting on a pair of dummie eggs for 53 days
  5. Elphinstone if its John Bosworth the Rennes winner
  6. My youngsters are out first light. The earliest are starting to do a fair bit of flying now. They do a good stint in the morning but they are on the stoat all day and fed accordingly.Hoping they'll mature into fine specimens with it
  7. My doos have been training with yous a couple of times this year Let go near yees then the hoover comes over
  8. Northwest Fed at Otterburn this weekend.79miles to the shortest flying lofts.
  9. When were the youngsters bred?when did they start flying?
  10. Nice wee hen actually, she went back up to the perch in the loft where she used to sit as a youngster. Time in from the Gold Cup next season?? Stranger things have happened
  11. Different set of circumstances but I just got a yearling hen back that was lost from a toss down the borders last year as youngster Its had too nice a moult for me to think its roughed it all that time. It'll be given a chance like all the rest of them though
  12. I've never really seen any negative effects as its been compulsory since I started racing so don't know any different. Just when I hear fanciers talking of the good old days, when doos were apparrently healthier and losses were less.Makes me wonder.Think I'm barking up the wrong tree with PMV jagging. Theres always been losses and you'd have to say theres more than one contributing factor to some of the eratic racing in recent years.
  13. When did it become compulsory to vaccinate doos for PMV in the UK?? Does anybody feel it has a negative effect on pigeons??
  14. Aye your right there.True what they say right enough-good doos will fly to any auld S***E We'd have had a few more winners if it wasnae for you and yer Dutch Sparra strain They two wee blue runts were good doos for ye
  15. The wee hen that won Avonbrig this week flew to a Muttley Box but it was one of his older designs We were the guinea pigs Basically we got all his S***e yins whilst he was perfecting his technique Joking aside.Good result this week, you've shook them up a wee bit down there since you started racing
  16. Top flying again Scott Had a man up tonight though and hes been telling me yer secrets *coughs* Muttley's Boxes *coughs*
  17. Top flying.expecting to hear a lot more of these two as the season goes on. Tommy Blair takes the first four for the second week in a row
  18. You'd have to say it depends on the individual doo.Not every latebred could be sent across the water as a yearling and do well but if you give it a bit of patience they could be the best birds you'll own. One of the best fliers ever in my section told me to breed pigeons in June.1) you take them off your best doos 2) they're bred when your doos should be in the best condition they'll be in all year.So they should get off to the best possible start
  19. Many roads lead to Rome One of my clubmates was 2nd in the SCC channel race with a cock carrying nest flights Think Peter Virtue done well recently and it was a similar story if memory serves me well
  20. A way I was told to look at it is latebreds are born after the old bird racings finished, usually off of something thats done well or bred something thats done well.
  21. Well done Jacko Jack and Conlin have got off to a good start but yous need to watch out for that danger man Andy Ritchie in the next few weeks
  22. Cheers Stevie All the best the morra
