Definitely the best policy, its ok finishing off a youngster from about 15/16 days old but impossible to rear them from birth. You might find locking the hen in the box during the night will help reduce casualties

Hi Charles, its freezing up here and its not going anywhere soon!!!! About your loft, i take it from your description it will be about 18ft long, split into 3 Sections, 2 for breeding and one for Young birds you will have plenty of room for 18+ doos. The Aviaries on the ends is a good addition too And a big YES they do take up a lot of your time, especially if you intend racing and winning with them
