Just home from work back of five and wife says the peregrine was here this morning at 10 o'clock with 2 screaming young in tow Let the youngsters out to exercise they were flying for five minutes when the mother and one youngster arrived on the scene Between me the wife and the wheelie bin lid oh and the dog drawing the attention of the neighbourhood managed to distract her She then took her youngster to the east before racing north to her site at the beef tub The youngster returned screaming into the town trying to find her parent Oh the joys of nature Yb's have now resumed normal exercise heading back out for round two

The 400 that were being chased here seemed healthy the speed they were flying Got to agree health is a must No birds allowed into our club hampers if they don't look right

Lindsay There was a batch of approx estimate 400ish birds being chased around the hills here by falcons at approx 11am Had birds dropping onto the roofs all around me There were other groups going all ways Solway seemingly had good race yet the three of us in the north section here got between a quarter and half our teams I seen 3 of my birds return in the afternoon all from the north suggesting they got taken by the large batches hence the reason we got a touching Birds were maybe clear of the racepoint but not clear of our area prior to our birds arriving Once lanarkshire move into this area including ourselves there will be 5 Feds trying to get young birds clear of a confined area in to short a space of time Feel not enough leeway given to youngsters IMO

Another scorcher Wee bit o cloud today
-
You are 100% correct in what you state Walter My dilemma is that when the birds hit the Gretna area mine then have 30 mls north to fly from the main convoy breaking ,I need to educate them to be confident enough to perhaps on many occasions fly alone Batch training would not achieve this goal Used to put them up as one In the 1990s a friend liberated 80 of my youngsters at 10 mls and I watched in horror as 3 falcons went through the batch 1-1/2 miles from my loft Took a real big hit that night hence the change of thinking Atb mick
-
Decoys now your having a laugh From where I liberate them known to me there are 7 nest sites just on line of flight Possibly 3 young now well strong and flying That equites to a possible 35 I would need the United Nations Involved to clear that air space No offence intended my friend Doo games fecked
-
Just wondering how many casualties each member has in their Loft I Now have nine birds that are out of action till 2015 I have been liberating birds lately at 25 miles in groups of 5 at 6 minute intervals Clearing liberation point immediately and heading for home I have been documenting their numbers prior to release and time each group liberated The birds have been retuning in their groups But the groups that are split have all signs of Falcon Attack Tails missing large parts of wings missing and others that have dived for cover at speed with broken legs and undercarriage with very bad bruising and no feathers The falcon has followed them right to the loft on two occasions As I am still on holiday have been training during the warmest part of the day as that is when the falcon is least active Apart from injured I have only dropped 3 If I change to early morning or evening the losses will rise very sharply Good Luck to All Especially the wee doos who don't get a say in this

Walter this is one decision only you can make Couple of examples Jimmy Dal's good hen Hoddam dynamo that was 1st and 2nd open SNFC from France It had every race on the programme for 3 years exceptional Doo Dennis Anderson never races a youngster he is also a national winner Scottish averages winner And this year from the longest race Ancencis he entered four and timed three on the night exceptional There you have it two completely different systems Many roads lead to Rome See you Friday Doos or not ?
