The Usual for a Sunday :emoticon-0156-rain:

Sad end for the old boy and no how your feeling Brian but dont let them beat you, must always be an eye for an eye ,after 20 years of this problem i now view and deal with it in my own way of thinking many roads lead to Rome Keep your pecker up and it wont be long till you clock another cracker

Your right there is nothing survives an express ,there were many cats killed by them also as they seemed to have a terrible habit of crossing the line where there was a doo loft, once bought my late mother an ornament rack for the living room but had to take it of the wall as we could not keep things from falling of when an express passed by,we could sleep at night never hearing the trains as we were used to it but if someone was staying over for a night they s-- themselves when the southbound passed the house

Remember a cheq pied hen i owned when racing to my parents address in wamphray, the loft was just yards from the main london to glasgow west coast line ,when a southbound express passed the house if the birds were startled by anything they would take of and fly directly under the wires and in front of the train they only then had seconds to avoid being killed, the pied hen had won as a 2yo 2nd section 11 open gold cup against approx 7500 birds ,then only weeks away from the race the following year was killed along with a few others by an express train can still remember picking up the birds remains from the railway to this day ,that was a hard pill to swallow

Never owned a pedigree dog and never will ,always owned mongrels and find that they are miles in front when it comes to brains ,got loads of mates with pedigree dogs and they are always at the vets also find they are on average as thick as mince (the dogs i mean ) And another thing if you don't use them for showing why pay hundreds of hard earned pounds when the dog homes are giving them away.

It is now 20 plus years since i tried all sorts of gimmicks on the doos to try and deter the falcon ,eg bali bells ,terror eyes ,sequins, coloured dye etc ,and please believe me on this one *expletive removed* all works that is legal , When a falcon is targeting birds at speeds in excess of 100 mph it don't give a damn whats sticking to them, and the doo when being targeted don't even come close to being brave enough to stick around for the result ,SAD BUT TRUE

Eddie was down last summer picking up a bird and told me of that terrible end to a class doo .

First loft i had was constructed from the following when i was still a young teenager ,firstly needed railway sleepers that sat two high x four rows loft was 16 foot long ,got them lying at nearby wamphray station looked second hand i think ? ,next up 4x4 pitch pine unneeded by b,rail it was lying at the railway station which was 300 yds away but were to heavy for us lads to carry that distance so we just waited on the next train passing and when the signal dropped lifted them onto the railway line tied ropes on them and dragged them down the line to my parents house (would get jailed for that nowadays with all that health and safety crap people did have a sense of humour then ),next up which was a bit of a problem for a young lad to put his hands on timbers that could be cut into 2x2 and some old sarking for roof, problem nearly solved house being renovated 3 doors away from my mums the builder had just taken of the old roof as the building was being raised to a double story and had taken out all the nails from the timbers which he was going to use for scaffolding battons (or so he thought)me and my mates after school and before darkness fell helped ourselves to what would be required ,next problem but not for long needed them cut into 2x2 the lady next door her husband was the local joiner but had been dead twelve years but his workshop was still intact,we knocked on the door and asked if we could cut some timbers which we had been kindly given through the saw and we would give her something for helping out she kindly agreed and turned on the electricity ,we had a bit of a job keeping the old belt on but eventually got there, payed her back ten fold with lovely salmon which she was very keen on ,where we stayed they jumped out of the water at night Builder landed at my mums next day saying some wood had gone missing but after tea and scones seemed to forget what he had stopped for, next up good railway sleepers which cost £5 to be cut into planks at local sawmill ,next up lining boards for front from school which was being modernised plus old doors from same source ,think had to buy some doweling Timed many winners into that £5 odd loft which stood the test of time and still brings back wonderful memories of a misspent but brilliant youth with mates that are still as helpfull to this day

Meant to have complete new front on loft by now had it all drawn out but with being sidelined looks like end of year job ,going to create aviary and trapping system in upvc which can be purchased up to 600 wide in a single board doing mine in white although it is also available in mahogany rosewood and golden oak but about roughly 30 % more expensive but once finished no more upkeep can be hosed clean and no breeding ground for beasties ,have already tried it on a small scale forming an aviary and must say it looks very impressive .

Best hen i ever owned won from shap 60 mls in a south wind cheltenham 240 mls in a east wind and from rennes 500mls into a nw wind 16 1/2 hrs with 7000 odd behind her,got fed same from first race to last race was never treated for anything ,am sure she done this because she was bred the right way had a wonderful constitution and was simply better than her challengers ,oh and should also mention she had no f---- hawks to worry about, still have her g/son 17 yrs old still filling eggs and never had nowt over his throat either pill wise, any new additions to the loft now that take ill dont treat them just bin them ,if the old boy dont take ill why should they ,jmo but everyone to there own

I raced on roundabout last year pleased with the way i picked up the system with the cocks, the hens were a different story exercised fantastic but did not perform on the saturday ,so i stopped them and kept them for this season rather than waste them with not knowing what i was doing,Made contact with a very good hen flyer ad traveled a few hundred miles to find out the rights from the wrongs so this year cocks thats paired to the hens defo at home ,plus now no how to feed them ,should not have said that time will tell
