A woman went to a pet shop and immediately spotted a large, beautiful parrot. There was a sign on the cage that said £50.00. 'Why so little?" she asked the pet store owner. The owner looked at her and said, "Look, I should tell you first that this bird used to live in a house of prostitution, and sometimes it says some pretty vulgar stuff." The woman thought about this, but decided she had to have the bird anyway. She took it home and hung the bird's cage up in her living room and waited for it to say something. The bird looked around the room, then at her, and said,"New house, new madam." The woman was a bit shocked at the implication, but then thought "that's really not so bad." When her two teenage daughters returned from school, the bird saw them and said, "New house, new madam, new girls." The girls and the woman were a bit offended but then began to laugh about the situation considering how and where the parrot had been raised. Moments later, the woman's husband Keith came home from work. The bird looked at him and said, "Hi Keith."

Yes I can see how one wishes to congratulate Jim, and every sucess to him and all... I'd certainly wouldn't knock that; as of course only too often unfair 'Cr&p' falls at these good and very genuine, much needed persons. However I tentively worry, for if it it right and proper - which most have to feel it is - to congratulate them on their' fine services, indeed implying that the Libs, and good returns are down to the 'Race Controllers etc. then the other side of the coins follows that bad results, and liberations could rightfully be laid at the same door. I don't believe this for a moment. Ofcourse I don't believe that for a moment, but the door is left ajar... There obviously can't be a great 'Understanding' Liberation until 'How they Home' and 'What actually instigates 'Bad returns' and 'Smashes' etc. are fully understood, which then can be treated accordingly. Until then though one can only rely upon 'Phones' down the line, weather forecasts and experience of course. However thanks to Jim and ALL the race control teams up and down the length and breadth of the country, for we need these brave men who give up their' time placing much effort on our behalf. Thankyou to you all.... a thankless nad all to often an unrewarding task i fear.

A loverly day here. A nice swirling stiff breeze granted. Mostly a hot sun ... just a few clouds from time to time. Youngsters just getting their confindence to fly are up and down from roof tops lol. Wont be long before they'l be circling, rangeing and 2 - three weeks the second rounders will be old enough to be out and then more 'Tenderhooks' start I guess lol.

Yep Greenlands, I agree sitting out on tender hooks is not good. I've just put my Electric fence back up and the instance peace of mind is worth the cost in gold! Fortunately I am not plagued by these airiel killers.... been moved on. Have seen the odd one around. Birds circle up above them, so know I may well be in for an unwanted visit. But to be honest, if I was plagued, the birds would stay in till they were sorted, or / and at best I wouldn't dream of letting them out unless salted. Maybe would be not my birds, but ...

Well, now the 2 pairs near me have gone, I am happier of course. No doubt another pair or so will adorn my skies. I did lose two birds granted, but in 14 years I think that is pretty good. But it was good to hear many others, the other week at the marking station, saying that they are now curbing these B.O.P. from eating their' birds. Hence they are no longer a threat as they have move on, or been removed I believe that most, if not nigh all, know now how to protect their' birds and are - OR SHOULD Be - putting this knowledge into action. After all I believe the lofts inmates deserve this. After all it is our responcibility in regards looking after them and their welfare. Further it is a cincerted effort not only for our own birds, but helps other lofts and pigeons too.

Jackson just after the turn of the last centuary was sending and getting yearlings from the 1000 miles and over . Read on Elimar articles about the Irish fancier sending and winning with yearlings INTO Ireland at over 650 miles ! Further yearling having first race at 650 miles to Pau with great sucess. etc. etc. Indeed many - granted they know their family well - don't even race as y/b's, and even as yearling yet dominate as old birds... One man's meat is another man's poison granted but.... do we breed too much inferior stuff, or molly uddle them too much?

Now it is confusing. Why stop them? Which ones do you stop! What is the thinking here So, are you keeping back the ones that you don't think are good enough, and hence breeding of those next year, especially if you lose the ones you think are good enough . Or ones you think are the good ones, but not giving them the chance to prove whether thay are capable of doing the honours? If the others you send are being sent to so that they can get a chance to prove themselves. Of course, personally, if fit and healthy they go the whole shebang allowed to.
