    One Eye

yes, they are absolutely incredible ,, i had the same as above post,,,,, old b cock came back with eye missing ,,had him for years and bred good pigeons many times when the batch flew one way to cicle ,,if it was his blind side ,he flew the other way ,,,but was never injured
  3. as far as i know,,,pentland at ridsdale
  4. congrats to ron williamson ,on a fantastic result on a hard flying day [and also for showing good sporsmanship] congrats to the outright winner and all who timed
  5. geordie has had an excellent result ,, first 5 club 3 rd fed jimmy
  6. won a combine race sartilly by half an hour ,,pigeon two y,o. 4 races as yb, 4 races as ob then in to sartilly 505 miles ,,bird paired jan ,,race in end of june , hadnt cast a flight ,,raced w, hood reared one yb after being paired jan. sat 6 days on second round ,,,,,,,,,,,,two tosses that year this bird wasnt destined for the water , but showed itself to be in fantastic condition , flew for hours on end, on its own after other cocks were in ,
  7. nowt wrong with these ,, to win they would need trained more [ then they wouldnt fly 2 hours then ] but is yb winning that important , would much rather have fresh yb,s left if poss, at the end of the season
  8. the hybrid vigour
  9. well you got it spot on chat ,,,, great pics of uk birds think p.b bird is a dark horse ;D ;D ;D,, well done chat
  10. s h u rule 17,,a member having a stray pigeon in his loft , must give it its liberty , and if it does not leave within 7 days or, is unfit to do so, he shall, without delay, report it to the app, union secy. with full ring particulars,,etc.. rule 18,,, all members of the union shall be COMPELLED to acknowledge, within 3 days ,,,,,,etc,,,, if the owner takes no action ,,a second report will be sent and if the owner still takes no acknowledgement within 7 days ,, he is automatically suspended etc dont think this rule is adhered to often
  11. when their ready ;D about 10 days approx , depending on time of year
  12. good yb,s are not necessary good old birds,, ,, and good ob,s are usually not had the guts knocked out them as y,bs
  13. if they are put on normal daylight on the longest day,, they should moult out completely with rest,, a little seed [linseed ,conditioner] and the most important thing,,, baths ,,[ i,e, baths will induce the moult]
  14. :-/ :-/ :-/ i think ,by what i have learned about lightness system ,,they are put on an average of 20 hours daylight, so they have completely moulted for yb season
  15. if you put galley pots of feeding in the nest boxes, since the hatching of the young , ybs will eat far quicker ,, sooner you seperate them, then, the better ,, or they will be scalped by older birds
  16. at least your a tryer jason,, good luck next week ,, maybe see more birds back yet
  17. MORALS ;D,,two chaps walking across the beach ,one said to the other ," theres an oyster wonder if theres a pearl in it ,," the other chap, picked it up,, sure enough, there wasa valuable pearl in it,, at that they argued who gets the pearl ", i get cause i saw it first" the other said " no i get it i picked it up" at that,, a laywer was passing , they asked the lawyer to sort the matter out,, the lawyer promptly took the two halves off shell and the pearl ,,,gave one half of the shell to one ,,and the other half to the other",that settles the argument he said," " but what about the pearl" said the two chaps ,,,,thats my fee says the lawyer,,, ;D ;D ;D,,,,,,,moral, easy to see ;D ;D ;D

  24. at the outbreak of world war 2 ,,,,thousands of British of pigeon fanciers gave their pigeons to the war effort [THIS MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTEN] to act as message carriers. during the period of the war nearly quarter of a million birds were used by the army, the r.a.f. and the civil defence services, including the police, the fire service, home guard and even bletchley park. pigeon racing was stopped,,, and BIRDS OF PREY, ALONG THE COASTS OF BRITTAIN , WERE CULLED, so that British pigeons could arrive home unhindered BY THESE PREDETORS, there was tight controls on the keeping of pigeons and even rationing for pigeon corn ,,
  25. another of these fantastic dicken medal winners was simply,",pigeon nurp 38 bpc 6." date of award aug 1946 " for three outstanding flights from france while serving with the special section pigeon service i,e, 11th july 1941 ,,, 9th sep 1941 ,,and 29 nov 1941,,,,, ,,,,just one other of these true" champions"
