like sprintbirds to have a good" step" in the wing ,this is the" step"between the secondries and the primaries , on distace birds like the last 4 primaries to be long and narrow with a good gap between them, BUT they win in all shapes and sizes ,,i think the inside of the bird is more important than the outside [shall try and get pics for you of the outside of the bird ;D ;D ;D,,the wing

for a 100 mile yb race , the darkness ybs usually are best they have full body moult and hold all their flights,,if its natural would just beware of the birds heavy in the moult on the head ,above the beak ,but most well trained ybs should do this distance ok

thats what i have in my wee aviary , concrete floor running to the far corner where i put a brick with holes [facing brick ] so i can hose it out ,, i hose it out with bleach [let it dry], but the bleach drainage from the holey brick cleans all the outside slabs as well ,then hose the lot down only diff, i put plywood on the floor so i can take it out and let the sun dry it , but i dont really like it as it can get damp under the boards , so changing it
