  1. yip ,,bang on there ,, one of the greats davie angus,, and the breeding genes still in winning birds today,, geordie bain,, the first gold award winner had a few of his birds , , but going on about dampness,,still the worst thing,,for anything [exept fish ;D] but theres dampness and dampness , even if your loft is bone dry,, your footprints in winter will cause dampness,,,,but the secret is good air flow and good ventilation, a little shower blowing through the front is unavoidable ,and of course there are days when the air is really damp, this is natural to birds and is all part of nature , clinical dryness is not needed , but a damp loft with no air circulation , over a while , is suicidal
  2. nowt wrong with them,,,the first pic, the bird has just threw its first flight , reckoned to be in the best nick for racing,,, the other has moulted 6 flights and would be" past its racing form" [and body moulting]
  3. what an absolute cracker of a photo,,, looks so calm and sedate , beautifull
  4. please please please ,, dont even think about blaming the fifer,, never in a million years ,, this man has done far more good for the pigeon fanciers ,[without making a big deal out of it , not even asking for a thankyou] i dont blame you for being upset, at the carry on your having, but dont get paranoid, and start blaming wily nily,, im sure , with a wee bit patience , youll find out who is the culprit ,[or find out away to stop your birds moulting ;D] no, im sure this will surface ,,and youll get to the bottomof it,, it is rediculous someone moaning about feathers ,, never mind, the leaves will overtake the feathers shortly , , wonder if the neighbour will complain to the council about them,,they probably will ;D, thats when the council find out the crackpots, and allthough they have to follow up,,,will take no notice, as they will be well used to them
  5. congratulations to all that timed in the pentland "prepaid nominated bird race]] mid week race from newark,,,,,1st k newcombe £2,657 2cnd r kinnear £2.657 3d b johnstone£737 4th a, millar [forum member ] £1,997 5th g hunter £807 6th k newcombe £607 41 lofts sent 91 birds £9,000, in pools and prizemoney [this is only first six] i asked andy millar what he was going to do about the begging letters ,,,he just said ,,keep sending them ;D ;D ;D

  9. if the 2 year old, onwards, have bred winners i leave them,, if they havent, [but won themselves] would change the pairs ,,,as for the yearlings, find it less bother to have" love matings" i have found they race better and[ if the quality of your birds are good ] seem to even breed better yb,s

    SHERRY

in my opinion ,, dont think it would do the birds any good,,, or make them any better,,,,,might make them happier though ;D ;D ;D
  16. no info ,,shall report through union
  17. not getting much luck,, how old are young
  18. even if it was for charity,," round the uk" would put the pigeons in a better light ,and make good news coverage ,,even tv , but even a race would be interesting [remember lots of things could come good with that,, hawks etc :-/]
  19. this is the tell tale sign ,,bubbles on the bottom eyelid ,,,but other than that , could have damaged its eye or even something in it [although unusual , as a pigeon has a third eyelid that protects it ,,,acts like a windscreen wiper ] as for a parrot , i couldnt advice [even though i have one ] vets the best for that one
  20. it is usually a respiratory problem which could lead to blindness ,,, but could also lead to a more serious ornithosis, then with secondary infection ,, etc, but can be treated easily to begin with ,,, I'm not sure if this could be the same in parrots [i do know that African Grey's are very good at masking over any disease]
  21. brilliant chat.. :) good for pb :) looking at the clip, the birds look as fit as a fiddle , great going ,,, best of luck marvelous job
  22. yes have seen bob macdonalds ko nipius ,, allways look the tops ,,,,would i be right in saying the ko nipius are closely related to the van geels and jan aardens??
  23. never hears of that in African Grey's ,,but possible,, i know that a child's spit contains some sort of cleanser and antibiotic which can cure a pigeon with one eyed cold [usually due to some respiratory prob] better with vet ,,good luck to your freind
