  1. i think it was just the driver , being freindly,, he knew about the bother i had b4 about comming to collect birds and not bringing boxes [i think it was more down to the driver , than amtrack themselves] yes sammy ;D they were empty ;D ;D ;D good job ;D ;D ;D there were about a dozen ;D ;D ;D
  2. 12 love of owner [confidence in owner]
  3. 11 eggs
  4. no 10 ,,mate [love]
  5. no 8 ... sex drive
  6. one of the reasons they dont home so fast [is we pool them ;D im sure they know that ;D ;D ;D] [not counted in reasons ;D]
  7. no 7,,, we have bred the speed into them ,by selective breeding [through the years]
  8. no 6 instinctive place of safety
  9. no 4 instictive feeding place
  10. no 3 instict to breed in their own home
  11. reason 2 its natural inbuilt homing instinct ;D [Noah told me that ;D]
  12. it must be remembered too that droppings under the perches [nest boxes ] are damp and if left will produce ammonia , which cant be good for the birds [continual ammonia and air rising past the birds ,, no good , so worth keeping this part clean and dry,, as for humidity ,, if kept exact ,by a dehumidifier is not really natural to birds , so to my mind theres a happy sensible medium , not clinical, but a sensible middle approach to this ,as the birds have to be made adaptable , constitutional wise, and thus bring a certain amount of immunity to the birds
  13. well ;D you never put anything in the water in open yearling race newark 06 ;D ;D that only netted you £5000, with 2 birds ;D ;D ;D [im still sending the begging letters ;D ;D ;D] use only pure scottish water , only the best will do ;D ;D ;D
  14. think its only fair to point out,,,,,,,,,,, batusai is in the philipines where light, and seasons differ from us
  15. to me, in the first pic,, it looks like its just thrown its first flight,,[[too much of a step , between secondary and primary ,, but hard to tell in pic,, if this was the case ,,ideal for racing ,, the second pic ,, the bird has def has just 4 flights to moult , so should be past its best ,, but with pigeons anything poss so it would depend on their condition and training etc ,[also on the body moult], but the best of luck batusai,as mr bramling said it [in the first pic] may have 3 flights to go,but would be easier to tell with the bird in the hand [look in between the gap in the first pics flights between the secondry and primary , if theres a flight pipping through , its just cast its first flight , if not,,and it has 3 flights to go,and if so, its a really big" step in the flights" bigger than usual batusai ,, im also wondering if these pics were taken recently
  16. had a lot of bother in the past by amtrack , but last few times , no probs at all ,, the chap ,now, who does my district , was delivering a parcel to a neighbour , knocked at my door , handed in about a dozen boxes , said might come in handy jimmy ,,,so good gesture
  17. another good idea , poly [the schools] i think if we could get enough p,b members interested and some more ideas , it would be quite feasible, it could also be quite fun as well.
  18. yes, im sure , with the proper pro, this could be a great money spinner for say,,"cancer relief" picking 4 teams from each area , from fraserburgh to lands end, and back in say 100 mile races [stages] this could be worked out quite easy with north roaders and south roaders , you would get at least 10 main cities [or more ] sponsors per pigeon per mile , this could cover 1000 miles easy in short steps , you would get plenty media attention at the 10 cities and possibly tv coverage if done right,,,,even pigeon basics members could do this, and as this would be something completely different to all other" stunts" would surely show fanciers in the best light,, i,e get the public on our side ,, i would say definately worth thinking about ,,,,,and it would be fun

  24. can just imagine a loaded lead ball ;D ;D ;D perfect aiming with corigation ;D ;D rolling down the back roof of your loft ,,hitting him right in the nut ;D ;D ;D now now , no violence ;D ;D
  25. just did it again today, after 4 days [but after the birds were here for half an hour they went, but locked out their old loft as theve seen the place and will know quite well where to come back,[.tell you tomorrow ;D] maybe not so much tips but common sense ,, first the birds have to be fed and watered in the new loft, [so get them when hungry from last loft],that lets them know theres grub and perch,,, then every day put a basket or a cage where they can see all around , leave them all day in this ,on top of loft ,, seeing the other birds getting a pick now and again through the day,on the loft and on the ground where they can see [small seeds lasts longer doesnt fill them so quick , even seeing other birds in bath [better if unbroken ones never had bath for a while,]," all these things they want, but cant get" untill,,,, then of an evening , i take each bird out seperatly, hold it for a while on top of the loft [up step ladders] whilst feeding others in sputnick, then holding bird on sputnick [seeing the rest eating ] then allmost releasing it at the point of dropping in the sputnick [making sure it goes in and get a pick] i do this with every bird every day , then when hungry, [have the other birds out and landed] i open sputnick front and feed small amounts off seed all over,[in the evening, late] top of loft, sputnick [inside and out] and ground , have the bath ready if they want,, the idea [even if they go back to old loft], is try and hold them their for as long as poss so that they know thats were the grub is ,, no feeding at all or entering old loft ,,,,,theyll remember where they got that pick when their crops tell them i once broke a bird, trained the bird, scored at 505 miles national ,,all in three weeks :) true,, broke a 5 year old dark cock, that had flown up to 550 miles for previous owner in 4 days [driving] ,,,sounds daft,, but making the bird like you, having confidence in you ,trusting you ,,all helps in settling new birds
