Roland Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 You know, one thing for certain is THAT B.O.P. / Raptures are devastating our sport. I see here training is a scary Hazard. We all know that something has to be done, changed. Yet so many continue to Boo - Hoo those that do, and try to solve a problem. Our governing bodies can't - The RSPB has too much influence and is too strong ... For whatever reasons the government can't or won't be interested. Now such as Andy, has shown another way forward perhaps. Such as Peter Pandy and me, and a few others etc. have had success from so - called lack of training. Once a pigeon has some experience to satisfy the fancier--- the sooner the better, then why not train via feed alone. Out only on race days if not racing. Pigeons were hardly ever trained via the masses back a while. They became loft fit and then Races for certain Races was the norm. Great successes and fewer losses. Whether we like it or not, we need to think seriously in this regard I believe.
Novice Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 Not wishing to steal anyone's thunder I train with 2 other fanciers and we have few losses from 30 miles. That may be down to luck but I think it's more related to work done en route. On an annual basis I lose fewer birds training than I do flying at home. One of mine was found this week about a mile from home half eaten it had not been trained. For me I'll do whatever gives best returns and will continue to monitor the situation. However, good luck to fanciers who are prepared to try new tactics.
sandy25 Posted April 20, 2017 Report Posted April 20, 2017 Perhaps the unions and I mean all of them should approach the Queen and ask that the Royal warrant should be removed from the RSPB on the grounds that they are not protecting all birds in fact they are doing the exact opposite its not just pigeons that servr to feed the B O P perhaps its time we got the bird watchers and twitters on our side .but the removal of their royal warrant would hurt them more than anything else .all the best sandy ...

Good shout ! Think getting them on board be good idea but HOW?? do they not watch bop aswell ??
sandy25 Posted April 21, 2017 Report Posted April 21, 2017 Well lots of watchers do so in their gardens these would be the easiest to get on board as they have all witnessed first hand the continuous depletion of their favourite garden birds .Most hardened twitters are kind of sick of it as well but seem to believe the RSPB when they say it will even itself out which is total and utter fallacy we only have to get them to realise what we all know when food is in plentyful supply all predators will breed faster and kill more and more to feed their youngsters the only thing that will stop them is the depletion on natural prey which will eventually occur from which point some of their prey will have reached the point where recovery is for them impossible and extintion of these species will surely follow how many species of animals /birds have we as the top predator managed to force into extinction ..Perhaps we should ask people who fall into the rich and famous for their aid in this battle .all the best sandy
