billt Posted March 2, 2017 Report Posted March 2, 2017 ...what they do with pigeon rings retrieved from artificial peregrine nests? I asked this question on one of their live cam sites a few years ago and was told they are all reported to the RPRA, I replied that I had never heard of a fancier being informed and was cut off so I'm guessing they are binned or made into bracelets
greenbar Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 I wouldn't trust the RSPB,with the remote for the tele,
sandy25 Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 Perhaps thats a good question to ask using freedom of info .But then again what do they say about things for free ?Also even if we got an answer who could we depend on to do the counting as they seem to be able only to count till the number suits their purpose like has been said youd go out of your way to hide the tv remote from them.all the best sandy
Tony C Posted March 3, 2017 Author Report Posted March 3, 2017 This is what prompted me to ask the question http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-39119990
moscow master Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 There must be tens of thousands of pounds worth of ets rings in nests all over the uk
dunc50 Posted March 3, 2017 Report Posted March 3, 2017 they remove 1000s of rings every year from nest sites ,, at the end of the day it is theft as every ring has been payed for by the registered owner, fancier ,
Tony C Posted March 4, 2017 Author Report Posted March 4, 2017 Found this on the Nottingham Trent University website http://www4.ntu.ac.uk/sustainability/biodiversity/falcons/faq/index.html 5. Do you keep any records of the pigeon rings discarded in or around the nest? Yes. Once the falcons have left for the year, the team from NTU clear the nest and any rings found are passed on to Notts Wildlife Trust. They are then logged with the Royal Pigeon Racing Association. You may find this NTU falcons blog entry of interest.

If so asked would it be possible to list these rings in the Homing World.
greenbar Posted March 4, 2017 Report Posted March 4, 2017 They.ll need a few extra pages in the B.H.W,if they do.
