paddymac Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 I know it doesn't suit everyone but I found that early mornining training 5:30-6:00am has been successful for me here in the N/west of Ireland and thats the birds flying home through the Sperrin Mountains which is infested with several breeding pairs of peregrines. I have to agree with Derek, we all have to stand together on this and a few choice liberations will certainly help our cause.

just ask me Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 the eagle owl will kill falcons but its really not as common as we would like a few 100 pair even would make very little impact training single is not the way to go any preadtor likes to single out a bird on land sea or the air if u take a young male or young female who are training to hunt they will have a go at everything that passes though you will often see skilled preadtors split the bunch then chase there prey or one splits the prey then the partner will be in postion to chase
Roland Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 The RSPB illegally go out and cull Eagle Owls. Spouting their usual bias untruths. Like the Percy are monitored, so should any and every Eagle Owl. They won't tolerate other predators in their domain, and at night will go and sort them out. According to DAFRA, once they are in the wilds, they are classed as a Native BIRDS of our shores and are entitled to the same rights and protection as the Peregrine etc.
just ask me Posted May 23, 2015 Report Posted May 23, 2015 any statitcs i can find all say that they do kill falcons but have no adverse effects on falcon numbers in a area they will actually kill more pigeons and doves than other birds of prey
