cemetary Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Just asking a question here if any body can shed some light it would be much appreciated. . When we bought the house in 1989, there was a spare bit garden what was left alone, then the guy over the back took the garden on to tidy it up. Now we are looking at maybe moving on from here, what's the chances of this belonging to us, I have been told by the old timers in the street that have been here from day one, who that the garden belongs to us Will it cost me money to find out if it is ours or not.
ghostrider Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 If you own your own house ( outright )Take a look at your Deeds,if not get your Solicitor to have a look!We had the same problem with our last house regarding some land, that was Not included on our deedsWe had to apply to the LAND REGISTRY,that did cost us for a search, can't remember the priceBut it was soon sorted out by them, and our solicitor had the document from them to prove it Was oursFrom way back when. Hope you get it Sorted
Dooheed 5 Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 I would have thought it Should tell you in your deeds if the said ground is included as a part of your property ?
johnc Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 if you can find an old grid map like the one they used to pin point pigeon lofts it will show you on there or go on national grid website and you should find a map of your street and each property is lined off
andy Burgess Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Ghostrider,s post is good . your problem will be if he challenges you Cem .as regards a grid map , they are not accurate enough when it comes to boundary fences . a land registry report used to cost £100 . has he maintained the land for over 7 years ? ie cut the grass or grown vegetables kept hens upon it and fenced it off ? if so , you may have a fight on your hands . any dispute between neighbors must be declared when selling your property too.
