Just watched a video on pigeon insider about garlic..this guy gives it a minimum of once a week in the wi winter to expand the veins so the wattles don't go grey and and the blood flows better therefore turning the wattles white but he doesn't mention anything about the sping/summer..I give my birds garlic in the water all the way through year(every second day) any comments welcome as I'm a novic in this sport and this is my second ob season

What would you recommend ? Twice per week or just the once?,cheers andy

i have used it myself on a Monday only , why ?? i understand above all else it has some "anti-septic" element , so my belief was ,anything picked up or internal strain from racing it would aid or help . :pidge:

I'm a big fan and one of garlics biggest pushers especially in the winter period. My birds recieve garlic and cider vinegar on a daily basis, as with natural products they are not 100% effective unless used on a daily basis, this is what I found after talking to a number of top vets

I've being giving my birds garlic one day then cider vinegar the next then multi vitamins followed by multi vitamins the day after a race my dad gives both garlic and cider vitamins on a daily basis and seems to do alright in the fed racing as he's not a national man I'm only looking for advice from experienced flyers like you're selfs thanks for the opinions so far guys, atb Kenny

Kenny, garlic is a great product but super pigeons will come into condition with the basics and don't need anything but feed, grit and clean water m8.omo

Wild garlic grows in abundance in the woods right now up until late May is very nutritious and free to pick.We sometimes pick leaves and once washed are very tasty added to recipes. This is the time I hang a bunch in loft some will eat it others won't . It also keeps midges out of loft .

Av been giving the pigeons some Garlic for about a wk. Now that thev'e laid i'll keep them off it for a wk or two then try it again but maybe only 3/4 days as yb's will be in nest. A good fancier once told me he didn't give them it while feeding ybs as it was a bit strong (acidic}for their well being. I think he has a point. He told me not to over do it, I think he was right. At other times Garlic is brilliant though I feel.
