buster151 Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 A lot is also because they get stuff wrapped around there legs/feet, lots in my local towns the same you can see the string etc tangled around them, I even seen one, one day flying round with a polystyrene cup stuck on its head don't know how it managed to do it but it did, myself and a security guard stood watching in disbelief
Tony C Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Twine, cotton, catgut etc. gets caught around their toes/feet whilst rummaging around towns. The stuff tightens, toes/legs swell and eventually fall off.
Novice Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 bumblefoot can be the cause of this. it is a bacterial infection.
William Reid Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 Agree with all of the previous posts. But for ferral pigeons this does most of the damage.
