I'm betting that it's neither a Buzzard nor a Sparrowhawk - but a Goshawk ;-)

I agree Steve, probably a male unless the Bl. Ck. is a monster, Tail not long enough for sparrowhawk and not a falcon

going by that picture you could be right, but for the size of it i would say it was a hen bird
