I've put in a telephone call to my secretary asking for information on this election.

Although part of SHU Constitution I honestly feel it is another procedure which hasn't kept pace with the times. I believe it doesn't do justice to either the candidates or the ordinary members: does every SHU member know Scott or John and everything about their background, experience etc? Do we even know for sure who is standing?

The model I have in mind to replace it would be the existing Trade Union or Parliamentary procedure of :

1) candidacy open to any SHU member who can muster a nomination for standing for the post (12 signatures?) ;

(2) that the candidates issue a single page 'elect me because' thumbnail sketch of themselves, telling voters what they have done, and what they hope to do for the SHU if elected;

(3) that these, and a ballot paper, form a mailshot to every SHU member at their home address;

(4) that the completed ballot papers are returned to an independant electoral society for counting.

And I believe the 2 Vice-Presidents should be elected the same way.

maybe bruno's way would be a better but thats to be voted on at an agm

Bart is there not something in the shu rule book about voting from the club/fed that you pay your shu dues to?

I take your point fifer but all this jumping feds is not ideal for the repution of our sport we all know why he done it but there are other things to consider  where will he race his birds? and how do we know which loft he times into? what about the Nat sections? all a bit dodgy to me remember there are over 30mls difference in the two locations and can you honestly trust a man that goes to that extent to retain his post at the shu they people should be above all that kind of stuf

To show willing the newly elected  President should publlsh in the Pigeon Press the names and loft locations of the members of his new fed and announce the names of the Shu committee who will undertake the visual inspection of this extremely small feds members lofts. Aftrer all it should'nt take long.

He should also produce evidence that he resigned from the Lanarkshire fed before their AGM and that he is not in breach of that feds rules and liable to suspension from that organistion.

This would allow us to move on in a spirit of peace and harmony.

Is it decent and right and within the spirit of an election for office bearers Fifer?

hard to say, u mention decent and right, i personally have never voted for myself, was never in the position where i had to as i never had anybody stand against me when i was president, probably because nobody else wanted the job, and this is the problem now adays in most organisations, how many have more than one person standing for their presidents job and have to vote, not many, the jobs are open to who wants them, so in a way its good to see people going against each other for places this way u are getting the one with the majority vote, and even without his own Mr Barlow had, ok just. getting to the nitty would i vote for myself, in that situation, i dont think i would have, as i would have wanted the majority without my own, its like the chairman getting a casting vote, when i was a branch official with a trade union  we went to classes and one thing we were told was if u had the casting vote u should always vote status Q, as it has had a majority vote the new proposal has'nt if u went for the new proposal it really was going in on ur vote, but like the one in question it is quite legal to vote the other way, dont know if i have explained it so you know what i mean, hope u understand it,

Fifer surly even you cant condone that kind of trickery

frank we all have fed delegates they are the ones u should be asking questions, and telling them to find out, they are the management committee, frank, they are ur reps with the shu, make them do their jobs and let u know what is going on, they go to the meetings and can ask any questions and get answers, i can asure u at my next fed council meeting i will be asking the shu delegates some questions, as i dont know about those new feds or anything, but i will find out from my delegates, this is the problem frank and always has been members let their delegates do what they want, start with ur club ask for a meeting before ur fed delegates go to a fed council meeting and go over the agenda and the members tell the delegates what they want and they must carry this out thats what u elect them to do, but its not done itsnot done in my fed, i even when i was president of the fife fed kept bringing this up but nobody was interested in having meetings, and this is the problem, until we get this sorted the delegates all become pally and do what they want ant let the officials do the same, let us the members tell them what we want, and as long as the one in the presidents job new how to do it it would not matter who he was as he wouldbe doing what he was told, sorry for the banter but i do get carried away sometimes, but i have had a lot to do with unions and committees etc during my life, they even wanted me to take over the shu presidents job when they were wanting the president out, which the succeeded but it was bad times and the one who took over resigned and thats when barlow took over, anyway all the best sorry for going on so much

whats it got to do with you anyway frank, why dont you stick your knebb in to your own organisation after all you are no longer a member of the shu, i dont see any shu members coming on this forum slagging the rpra, at least the shu dont allow suspended members to participate if they are suspended by any other organisation, anyway what are you asking bart for after all it was you who was the ex delegate for central fed, you would think a past delegate for the shu would at least be familiar with the rules but there again you were not there to benifit the shu you were one of the disidents, keep on walking frank your pals never won.

Speaking as a member of the SHU if this post is not "moderated"on the grounds that it is not pertinent to the subject being discussed on this thread it will lead certain members of the forum to assume thewre are double standards being applied depending on your point of view!

I don't remember you saying that too anyone else who objected to my posts outlining my point of view Fifer.

Fifer you and I and everyone else on this forum know you are almost trying to defend the indefensible. But who can blame you Fifer because people know who "you" are.

Bet you wish you were "me"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you think our fed president behaved in a correct manner during this last few weeks

i think he acted in the interest of the shu unlike the pair of vice presidents, i never thought that ian noble and scott gibson would form an alliance to oust john barlow it was my belief that they had no respect for each other, but it would appear that desperate men do deserate things, ian noble has come down in my estimation i really thought more of him, as for scott gibson i think he is an egomaniac who craves attention, i had never heard of the man three years ago, now i am sick hearing about him after all how many commitees can one man be on, surely this is not the solution for the shu.

my sympathy goes out to john barlow having to work with the schemers.

cheers.
