Guest Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Don't need central marking for ordinary races. There is a middle way. Our transporter doesn't come to any club, the clubs are responsible for getting their birds to the transporter, which is based at Stirling. Fed charges the clubs a set fee 30p to 40p for birdage, which would have been 5p higher had the fed uplifted. Our club pays one of our members a set annual fee for ferrying the birds to Stitling. He is accompanied by 2 other members who help load the transporter. We mark 6pm - 7pm, we then load the birds - they are away by 7.30pm, we strike the clocks, and rest of us are away by 8pm. Our ferrying is paid for from club fundraising - a race night & raffle the last 2 years.
HOMER49 Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Hi To send an artic and 40ft trailer around all the fed is expensive Also to have smaller outlying clubs haveing to ferry in is unfair and is false economy Solution the fed hires on Friday nights a luton type transit and goes round all the outlying clubs Takes baskets to them and uplifts Cheers Homer 49

The other problems the officials had were that only covered vans were available for hire on the Friday nights and the members hated them, because the ventilation in them was non-existant. And it was the officials who drove them - and were left to load the transporter themselves.. Needs clubs to co-operate and if someone has access to or can provide a truck, or a van & trailer, then it works well, and cheaply, and there's more hands at the transporter.
frank-123 Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 maybe a van could be kitted out to take our fed baskets from these out lying clubs and again might be able to take any overspill baskets all the way to the race point

Hi bruno Your fed is in the position that you own your transporter when it is sitting at Stirling it costs nothing We in lanarkshire own the trailers only So to move them to a central point for loading we would still need to pay the haulage company Better they travel round than sitting on there backsides costs the same money Cheers Homer 49
