Roland Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Great Super Star, and everything is just hot air. First thing to be critical of is MEMEBERS 'Not attending meeting, any meetings. Second is members have waiting years for 'SOMEONE else to do it. Thirdly critical is licking up to names and playing 'follow the leader' many others but then place at top 'Whinges in Arm Chairs. First constructive thing is 'Attend meeting! Second constructive issue is 'what is best for ALL and Not the favoured few! Then the REALISMS put forward and not silly Dreams! So now we should ask every one who WILL attend meetings whenever possible to put their' names UP on the list pronto! Ok now let's NAME and Shame these ole fossils stating why? Who needs to be removed and WHY! Who lines their own pockets and how and why! etc. etc. Remember there is only one answer to why! Karen may be whatever one wishes, or believes, or wants to believe... Is the building let? Last I heard was it was being demolished! Best spend money there first then eh! I don't think so. I don't know how hard she worked... she got paid I know that much! You, others, and I have worked hard for years. I've worked blood hard from the age of 10 or so picking potatoes etc. Baling, Back of the Sledge at 12 stacking the bales for 16 - 17 hours a day from 12 years old. I've raised £1000's for charity and many 'Good Causes' for nowt... many times not even a thank you! Raised 1000's of £#s with out even being thanked. Run Boxing Clubs, Youth F.C.'s leagues etc. President / Chairmen of pigeon clubs etc for Free. But Karen, regardless what one wishes to believe committed the cardinal sin 'Betraying a Trust'! Never mind whether one wishes to believe it was for the right reasons, never mind if one wishes to believe it was for the best, never mind if one wishes to defend saying 'It had to be said' or wish to defend and force her re - instatement. Very few on here could do the same where they held a position of trust and keep their job'! Yes I admire Karen, but she knew all the rules. Indeed has quoted one to me that put ME RIGHT ONCE! So let's not keep confusing these issues between one then the others. RPRA was slated for say the Avian Flu, many of us wanted action -I know I did, I wrote to many MP.'s and E MP's Found one that was a son of a great fancier.... no one wanted to know. RPRA did the deeds whether you slagged Peter of or not! What were the many funds being set up.... where did they go? F & M RPRA did that right too. PMV jabs, regardless what we want, it turned out they did that WERE right too... ALL in opposition to the members thoughts and dreams - Perhaps they believed that the members wishes could or wouldn't be carried through ... well certainly wouldn't have been by the members and that the SAD fact. So start a heading ‘Changes the RPRA need to make, would be a start. Then another one ‘I promise to attend meetings from now on! Another, ‘Realism of progress’. P.S this is also on the wrong site, so will start another thread. RPRA FOSSILS WITH THIS POSTING.
Merlin Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Roland no doubt you are mostly correct in your summarisation, couldnt really find faul with anything you say,but how are Council ever going to LISTEN,without some form of drastic actin,a case in point being the method of the introduction of the E.T.S. where exactly were the majority of members wishes then.
Roland Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 Very good point Merlin regards the back door entry of E.T.'s ... Answer: Well where have the members been the last 30 years or more! Where and when have they been there to voice an opinion. Bet your bottom dollar that, IF in the past, the members did as they should and attended, had been heard and hence taken notice of, it would have been possibly a very different outcome. Not to say that IF the Law were as such that it wouldn't have still been past, though personally have never even dreamed that to be correct. But they would have know that there would have been out cry and Members strength, because so much would have been different in the past! Most committees do, as they like because they CAN and Have! They have known, without a shadow of doubt, that only a lonesome voice in the wilderness would be heard... The rest would whinge over a pint or from an armchair. Remember a COUPLE of private court cases, as many will recall, from a wealthy man that could afford to and DID so to win his case. If the whiners etc. had been at meetings and HAD their’ say, who knows how much better the RPRA would be today? Don't know that, but I do know a darn site better and more even across the board.
Roland Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 Regards them listening. Simple discuss before attending Club meeting. All go to the RPRA regional meeting and see that your elected representive votes as instructed. Go to the higher meeting and see that the REGION votes as instructed. Too many just smile and agree, knowing full well when they get there they will follow 'Names / Leaders wishes and lick *expletive removed* why voting their way. Come back and spill crap as to why it was / is better to have done so. So basically I say GET to meeting, put up or shut up! if any one has a better way, quicker, smarter way please post as such, for let me assure one and all, I am deffinately interested. Like I missed to replying to Merlins saying yesterday.' ... to bring in P.R people at this stage would only paper over the cracks, P.R is essential for our sport, but its important we get our own house in order first, and its nigh on impossible to do this from within, those in authority and our outdated administration makes this impossible. Firstly i wasn't implying a PR Firm in regards Karen, but that it should have been put into place 20 years ago! Further it would have been if not for the members out cry of THEIR money, and surely some buiesness men could do it free! And the reason that those in authority with out dated regimes still do so is three parts. A. Because they can. B. Because they are voted in. C they shift via their Clique any genuine person that wants better ALL round. Couldn't have done so though if members had backed decent reps, those genuine ones instead of the Names' that are purely there for own interests. Mind they still do a lot of work for the concern.... they have to, because when skinning someone, you must leave a little skin.... so it can grow back to be skinned again. TAIL lickers have a lot to answer for. Their 'I'm in the in crowd' scenario' has cost us dear granted.
superstar Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Your right Roland everything is just hot air! lets hope that the R.P.R.A carry on the way they do eh! Tell you what, it will save me a fortune as there will be no pigeon racing as we know it in the not to distant future so that will be a whole lot of expence out of the way. Why is the R.P.R.A renting premises then, when on an earlier post they are said to be renting out a property? That was supposed to generate income I'm led to believe? Why are transfers £1.50 for 12 rings? I agree they now cover postage, but even some discount there with the use of a franking machine eh! Gone are the triple page forms which must of cost a few bob, but were free, only to be replaced by any standard piece of paper which you can print off yourself but still at the new cost? More money making. Now it has come to light on here that a smaller organisation which gets less of a discount than the Mighty R.P.R.A can sell rings 10p cheaper but probably still more than covers its costs! Cost of membership alone has doubled yet we dont see a better Union just the same old crap. You have your views on it and I will have mine, as I said earlier on a post this hobby is a rip off from top to bottom. We as fanciers make lots of money for charity just to have a little picture of the "Old School" wearing a suit and tie trying to look good in some old stagers mag it seems, and they think that is good for the sport! Its a bloody joke. Charity is needed at home even if it is just enough to throw a tarpaulin over the roof of the Reddings to stop the valuble transfers from getting soggy! Where is all this money going anyway? Cant wait to see the end of year ballance sheet as we must be by now one of the richest organisations in this country! One loft race, future of the sport fund! What future? I dont see it paving the way to keeping its current membership happy let alone drawing in more new blood to the hobby. Time for change wholesale, no getting away from it really is there when you look at the real picture. Two quick examples of my experience with the people of the Reddings. Met Peter Bryant at the One loft race loft at birtsmorton once when delivering some birds there, he didn't really want to say hello even but obviously felt he had to being as I had made the effort. Didnt even give a glance to the people I was with even though they also help pay his wages! Looking back I should of pulled that nice gold tie of his tight round his neck for all the good he's done. Stood there listening to him opened my eyes, as Jeremy and his father were bringing to his attention a problem with the roof on the loft and all he wanted to talk about was his new car provided by the R.P.R.A well not them but us the membership! Tells you something that straight away. The other dealing with someone from the reddings was Karen James. She reported a young pigeon of my sons that had dropped in her loft on a bad race. I spoke to her on the phone and had arranged for my friend to collect the bird the following friday as she would be passing on the way to my place. Well Karen had other ideas, obviously thinking the sooner the bird gets back to its original loft the better and without anyone knowing the next morning my son had his bird back delivered by hand by Karen herself. She wouldn't except anything for her kindness and that I just about think sums up the difference in the clients that work there. Karen if you do ever read this your good deed paid off as the pigeon is still here, has never made a mistake since in 2 seasons and is a multiple card winner. Thank you from myself and John. As for Peter Bryant, Try pulling your tie tighter till your lips turn blue, your an ignorant man and money orientated simple as that
Roland Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 And your solutions? Nowt you have stated hasn't been stated countless times. Costwise, realism, etc. etc. means CHANGE within. What I have a job to come to terms with are two main things. A. if members have allowed this to happen, why won't it happen to the other NEW concern? It will be run vis people. It will quickly have 'Leaders & Followers' Those that take advantage, feather own nests and swell chest for photo's, cliques etc. etc. Indeed every thing that we already have. When not in office, or starting up Moon Cheese' is often readily available. Secondarily, WHO is going to get folks off bums, subscribe names, post monetarily guarantees. Indeed where is and will the money come from. Most will without doubt 'Wait and See' and certain won't put their hand in their pockets for a promise, especially with a bird in the hand. Further without doubt having satalite concerns only ever weakens each concern. History proves everytime anything is lessen it get disgarded and / or quickly runs into some kind of hassle... and too many fold.
Roland Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 Your right Roland everything is just hot air! lets hope that the R.P.R.A carry on the way they do eh! And sarccasm is the lowest form of witt, and certainly no need for it. Besides being no need, especially when most are on the same side doesn't that just heighten the very reason why the RPRA have been let down so badly via their members! Golly they can't even agree to agree, and when democratically elected pull together for the betterment of everyone, especially the sport! Ask most where they were when decissions, discussions were taking place and 90 odd percent say 'Didn't bother to go .... They (whoever THEY are) will do just as they please. But continue to whigne and moan. They should hae been there, and VOTED / Discussed with other members and sorted, not just leave it to the same ole tireless faces and moan more. Even having the audacity to call memeber that get voted in and try to change things, often the very things that they are moaning about!
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 roland i think pessure is getting to you youer talking to youerself may i ask whatmeetings you attend and what imput you give as you seem to spend lot time tellings us how and why we should do things the sport is about fiished mate wake up you will go round in circles then shot youerself beleave me been there done it give up and now im a bad egg why fanciers and commitees dont like the truth it means they have to do something
superstar Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Been there and done all that thanks, too many old people in the game for change and as you say even more cant be bothered's. Personally I think its doomed. Glad there is an alternative but bet it will fall on deaf ears by all the I dont care's. Appathy the key to success! NOT!!
Roland Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 Then Chris, it is a good job that the Fossils keep the sport going just a tad longer then isn't it. Everyone on here is able to breed and get rings for next year. Everyone is able to race next year. So A FEW Satalites may emerge... soon die too. Yes your right, check your pulse, you may well be dead.... Well from the shoulders up at any rate lol ;D ;D
Chairman Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Thought for today, not long ago the same sort of feeling was vented at the SNFC a very prestigous club with some fine members, the discontenment voiced at several meetings led to a new club being formed, the sucessful SNRPC. Many years ago the same discontenment was voiced at the RNHU, Major Lewis spent a full weekend up here in the north west pleading with fanciers asking them not to form a breakaway union. The North West Homing Union was formed. Not long ago one of the worlds wealthiest finance institutions declared bankruptcy, an absolutely unbelievable event to occur. The thought I leave with you, is a s in life things do'nt last forever, change does often occur even when the heart won't accept it, maybe its time for the old rpra to go, whether that be through lack of financial support from the membership or the event of competition of a new organisation or an organisation already in the market place attracting membership growth and through this grows bigger, stronger being the new market leader.Whatever does evolve its requires comittment and support from its membership, yes there's a lot to think about but who do you support? the old or maybe the new..............
roy rogers Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 NEWSFLASH- Later today at 6am sharp an emergency meeting of the "Run like Hell " cabinet has been summed to rpra headquarters to defend the sacred ritual of pass the buck, it involves a lot of fist slamming, shouting some swearing and loud synchronised chants of "I'll be doomed" this will continue till there's only one man left standing, then he'll chant for the final last time "Oh no, its me who's bloody well doomed" a senoir ranking officer will then strip him of his most prized asset, his rpra lapel badge, then pushes out of the front door, he hears the door slam shut behind him and locked from within, he's all alone his friends have deserted him.Immediately a press statement is then released complete with photofit and that man will go down in the anals of history, for not what he achieved but as the man who took the blame for the downfall of that once great establishment the olde rpra. Step forwards and take a bow Sir, for you have acheived what no other man has done before...................you took the blame for the collapse of our wonderful pigeon game.
Merlin Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 Roland At this stage it has to be about change, whichever way it happens hopefully for the better, the people there have had adequate time to bring the game forward, this concerns most Unions, stagnation is an apt description,we have basically nineteenth century rules, tinkered with, added to,but basically with very little relevance to today's problems, one issue I wish to highlight,a member wins more than his share, mostly through his dedication, quality of birds, facts all members should try and emulate, result being, other members form new club, exclude this member, exclude this person for no other reason, than his ability!!, it happens no rule broken,we put these people there, never thinking we would have to maintain a constant guard on how they administer, why are they so apparently out of touch with whats required, why should members ,again have to pay for a P.R.firm,when we are doling out monies, again created by members, while there are still so many issues unresolved, power corrupts, and absolute power absolutely corrupts, with this in mind introduce postal ballots for all existing members, they are elected through postal ballot, for a max of four years, they don't act for members, they are out, next election, members take back their most fundamental right,if I pay the piper I call the tune
Michael J Burden Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 The trouble is all this, talk on here is interesting but does not get anything sorted. You need a thread where new ideas can be aired and a new or old rule ammended through a well written propsition which can be submitted through the correct channels. As has been realised by many of the contributors there are many arm chair whingers who do just that, whinge. On Pigeon chat I started a thread to address this but most have no contructive ideas and are happy to moan about things. I suspect even if a new organisation was set up to give the RPRA run for there money the arm chair whingers would still be vocal. It is a fact of life that no matter how good things are in the country people always find something to moan about. PS things are not right from what I have read with the RPRA but as many say it is ours so why not look at the rules, submit rules for the better and change things in stead of just moaning about it. PPS I can moan for England but it only does one thing, makes you unhappy and gets up others noses.
Roland Posted October 31, 2008 Author Report Posted October 31, 2008 Regards Merlin, and Michael J. Burden. You know, the above two gentlemen’ posts are excellent. Both highlight the realities whilst highlighting we need do in fact need change. They put elegantly into words what I have been spouting. Yes we do need change as I have too often advocated. The main problem has been - for me - to enlighten just where this needs to be done! Just changing a ship, but keeping the same system, captain and crew will result in the same, then lesser results. Until members wake up, and decide exactly what is acceptable, and will be tolerated, then what their aims are, and desires to achieve will be, and pursue, and stick to the new regime. Every thing obviously will stay DETERIATING! Indeed al the way along I have advocated exactly what the two wise gentlemen have eloquently stated. But again I must say the biggest problem must be to replace the Apathy and actually use their thoughts to good use, attend meetings and above all VOTE!
Guest Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I nominate Roland for RPRA GM any seconders
Guest shadow Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 As you can not get members to attend club meetings or fed meetings the same few people myself included attended for years, as for getting young blood to go they usually say not interested, ( just want to fly my birds). heaven forbid if they were asked to attend regional meetings as delegates. Personally I do not see much changing over the years to come, plenty of whingers very few workers.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 I nominate Roland for RPRA GM any seconders GOD NO NOTHING WOULD GET SORTED HE SPENDS ALL HIS TIME WAFFLING

Chairman Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 If we were in the same posistion as KJ we would be advised by our legal team to make no comment on this matter. She has not froze us out, nor turned her back towards us, its quite simply she's been advised not to release a statement of discuss the case with anyone other than her legal team. And who can blame her, there are more "old guard" curtain twitchers on this site than soldiers in "Dads Army" now that the heat is about to be turned up just watch the little old blighters run for cover. "YOU'LL ALL BE DOOMED" just make sure they do not penetrate membership into the promised land, keep em out!
roy rogers Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Listen lads, I cannot explain the situation any clearer when you engage into litigation from there on in you are advised that your legal representatives take over the handling of your case, you are then told not to engage into any form of admission unless it has been given clearance by your appointed solicitors to do so. In other words it would be inappropriate for her to do so at this stage with an appeal pending.
