greenlands Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 Seen this on another site.Well done to all who helped. Lucky escape for the Coventry federation. Last night at just before 9pm we received a call telling us that the Coventry federation lorry had caught fire with our birds on board! What had happened was the transporter was about half full and had stopped at sainsburys petrol station in Couthouse green in Coventry to fill up and while doing this the underneath of the lorry went up in flames! Thanks to the efforts of our convoyer Chris Turner and his son as well as the fire brigade all the birds were safely evacuated from the lorry.Chris was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation but I'm told is ok.I'd just like to say a massive thanks to him for his brave efforts and also everyone who rallied round to get all the birds back to the club including Stan Harding and Bernard Bermowski for getting the Trent valley pigeons in their van for us.This could of been a complete disaster for the birds and even more worrying people too as at a petrol pump is the last place you want I fire! The state of the lorry is not yet properly known neither does the remainder of the season but I think given the circumstance we got away lightly!
