I have been our fed convoyer for 17 years . The majority of controllers and convoyers from the west coast feds keep in contact each weekend . we (ballochmyle fed ) were at tow law three weeks ago and we got clattered , There were very few birds reported . I think theres more to it than clashing. The birds just seem to vanish.

Hi

To have a complete scattering either BOP or RAF low level jets

The low level jets scared the sh*t out of me so what reaction would the birds have

By BOP I mean a family of 2 adults herding the birds to allow there young to practice

there killing (right time of year)

Cheers

Think its well known now that the Raf jets don't fly at the weekend, it might well have been BOP but for them to have affected the full convoy it must have happened at liberation as within minutes of the convoy heading home these would have spilt into many different groups of pigeons.

Think it was last year that an article appeared in BHW by the base commander of an RAF airfield 'near' Ripon (can't remember name or place). He mentioned liberations from Ripon affected Ops at the base, and that pilots' worst fears were birds through the windscreen. So there must be RAF Jet Operations over the weekend if this airfield is affected by pigeon racing liberations.

On the question of whether clashing occurred, according to BHW there were 3-3 transporters-liberations from Hexham, all Derbyshire North Road Feds, and  we know some of the Lanarkshire birds ended up in Derbyshire. Derbyshire is also their gateway to Cheshire, Manchester & Cumbria.

It would be interesting to know when these North Road Feds liberated and how did their race turn out?

Having said that, a p/basic member mentioned a Norwich Fed racing west - east from St Albans, much further south than Scottish birds, and 90 miles to him, also took a hammering, so did something affect most of the east coast on the morning of Saturday 22 August?
