Generally speaking, when an application for membership is put before the meeting, a vote is called 'FOR' the application. After that it's a majority thing. If for example you have a meeting where 20 members are present, the application goes to the members and 11 vote 'FOR' and 9 consequently vote 'AGAINST', it is successful. Majority rules.

Not sure if there is an 'APPEAL' procedure you can turn to.

Its absolutely shocking in this day and age especially when clubs have been awarded Lottery Grants to refuse any application for membership unless they have a criminal record or a person classed as undesirable.. In the very near future some fancier will approach the Grant Committee complaining they are being victimised by not having a perfectly reasonable application for membership to a club refused and being asked to pay the grant back due to a fraudulent application. The stipulation for a lottery Grant or Goverment Grant emphasises that their will be no discrimination off any description.. Club members should be made aware of the consequences of their actions before sticking their hands up. I personally resigned from a club due to them committing fraud which I wanted no part off.
