SHU Mark not RPRA ;)

It is not accurate to say SHU are reverting back to standard life rings. After trialling the lugged rings with an SHU club in 2009, with no problems reported in their use, it was decided to go for a complete change to the lugged rings from 2011. In between times, RPRA introduced lugged rings in 2010, and they experienced 'problems' with them. SHU Council took account of that and decided to alter their previous decision and go instead for a partial changeover in 2011, when SHU clubs and members would have a choice of standard or lugged rings. Feedback on that will no doubt influence future Council decisions for 2012 ring issue.

It was also pointed out that SHU is 5/6 years ahead of RPRA in ETS experience, and that the RPRA anti-lug faction are probably anti-ets, and this caused problems for us too in our early ETS years. SHU does not allow any alteration to any life rings, irrespective of the issuing Union, and so it doesn't matter to us which Union the lugged ring belongs to, if the lugs are removed, its altered, so will not be accepted for SHU-affiliated races or shows.

I hope this clarifies what appears to have been an attempt to stir things up between Unions.

After the RPRA allowing members to cut off the lugs from the new ETS style rings, the SHU have now decided that these ring having been tampered with wont pass them for use.

This means that after cutting the lugs off all these rings, birds will not be elegable to fly under the SHU or the SNFC, this is the most ridiculas situation which is going to create even more controversy something the sport has enough of at the moment.

All I want to do is race my doo's without all this cr@p!  >:(

The NEHU has done the same thing. Theres a lad in my old club who won't be able to fly his yb's now thanks to this. Too many chiefs and not enough indians!

If you read post 30 and your reply 31 to it? You are referring to SHU clubs but don't say so and Mark replies to your post. Between these two posts its far from clear which Union is 'reverting', or even where that 'reverting' information is coming from.

I simply made clear that it certainly is not the SHU, and I also gave background as to how the SHU Council reached their decisions on the life rings.
