I've got a yearling hen that has just hatched out but what I can't believe is when she laid her first egg I lost her cock racing so she only laid the 1 she has sat right through herself has anyone else had this

I have a hen that incubated her eggs until they hatched without the cock bird. One of the young birds died around 8 days old but she has reared the other a healthy young bird that I weaned over last week.
