Guest TAMMY_1 Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 when you see more and more weather reports it is changing all the time so do you think the birds should be basketed as usual so they are at the race point and held an extra day if need be or as I have seen it before when the basketing is put back and the Saturday turns out great or is it prudent to delay it,but not easy to go either way, what are your thoughts.
Henrik Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 Thoughts are Tam, be your own race controller, you decide whether its gonna be ok for your birds, then if they do get a race and it turns out a stinker you,ve no one to blame apart from yourself and the same applies if it turns out a good racing day and your birds are at home. Mine arent going this week as evrywhere I look I see rain tomorro, but as I say if it turns out ok I,ve no one to blame but me. JMO
doomaloon Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 dammed if you do dammed if you dont if your a race controller.though i think its always best to err on the side of caution and hold basketing for 24 hours if there is any doubt, especially at this early date in the season
JohnQuinn Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 It's clear the majority of fanciers want their birds in the basket for as little time as possible, so on that basis i think it wise to hold basketing until there is a good chance of a race the next day. Only the controllers can decide when they go and that is as it should be, the rest of us should support them in whatever they decide. If its a stinker of a race we should show them even More support because not one of us is more sick about it than the controllers themselves are, and ave never been one for kickin a man when he's down and i believe a bad race leaves all controllers feeling down.
walterboswell59 Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 well said john no one in there right mind trys to lose birds

JMOyou are right Bobby and that is why I have decided to keep them at home, weather here is terrible just as forecasters said and we have our first race from France in a fortnight so would rather have them there, this weeks race is only 15 mile farther on than last week and they were all there so see nothing in gained by risking them,a short race next week before France will do them fine and weather is improving down here from middle of the week
