OK I have objected to the hawk business all over the place, I have spoken at planning committe meetings of Dumfries and Galloway council.I have addressed the countryside and wildlife committee of the Scottish Parliament all to no avail. I plead guilty to not having taken any direct action against predators but I do not think that merits personal abuse.

as you say walter all to no avail

IMO, your post is disrespectful to the top fanciers that will be up at the top of the fed sheet this week, the same very fanciers that have been very successful last year, this in all kinds of weather conditions.

I don't think you giving racing pigeons the credit they deserve Wattie, they are born with a built in homing instinct and personally i don't see the need to give latebreds 30+ tosses as some fanciers have on this site, time and cost of this needless exercise alone is outwith the average fancier, if after 5-6 tosses a fit latebred cant get home from a race from 80 miles then in my opinion there has to be a question mark regarding this pigeon.

Can remember in 2002, the first year flying young birds after moving to Larkhall, young birds had only 4 tosses prior to the first race and that was all they had, the reason being that i was too busy building an extension on the house, needless to say it was probably the best young bird season we had, including winning the young bird average in the west section of the fed flying against 3500 young birds most weeks.

++ the best fancier racing young birds in the Lanarkshire fed in 2013 only had a handful off tosses last year.

Bloodlines first, then let the basic instinct that pigeons are born with take over.

no disrespect to any fancier gareth is meant m8 but thats why its called a blaw hame m8 and as for training no one trained harder than your old man god rest rest him so no bull s t eh guys are wondering why there losing them im giving them my opinion why there not losing them cause there bad pigeons there losing them because they have not learned enough and are not fit enough to get home when they make a mistake which is proving to be the case but ill be glad to hear from anyone else who can tell us how to lose less pigeons we can all pick holes in other peoples methods im trying to help by giving them an alternative we could all give an example of one pigeon doing this or that with little or no training but they are the exception not the rule

walter i agree with everything delboy has said it is up to you and all the rest of the pigeon fanciers to do something about it other than moan about it

Ok so if people were taking things into their own hands and doing something about it ie sorting out their own areas by whatever means it takes ,will Feds & Unions come forward and pay the fanciers fines if they get caught !!

So on saying this the only way forward is through the courts ,and push for change in law.As well as hawk problems i have crows that try to take my youngsters in mid air,as well as the ferral cats ,i should be allowed the right to protect my stock imo.

No one trained harder than my father, don't make me laugh Walter, it's quite the opposite so don't try and flannel the members on basics that he hammered them down the road.

Who said anything about not training, you quoted my late father trained the doos harder than anyone, this i had to correct you on as it was a false statement you made. Now your are refering that someones is telling porkies, please do inform me of the person you are talking about.

I Just joined a club for the very first time and quite franky im getting disillusioned by all the bickering, jealousy, in this great sport, we all love racing pigeons, and should be concentrating, on more inportant matters, such as bop, losses ect do your own thing, we all learn by mistakes, if you need help ask, as for pigeon men and women every single 1 of us have our own secrets that we think work better,i.e training, feeding, STOP living in the past, help promote the sport, get young people interested, there,s to many grumpy old men set in thier ways in pigeon racing, no wonder its dying, GET a grip, rant over.
