Guest big50cal Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 Hi - yesterday at half two I let 17 young birds out, which were quite strong on the wing. They were flying for about 40-60 minutes - they disappeared, I never got any back until 8am today when I got 2 back. At half ten I got another back - with no tail, this could be the end of my pigeon career.

Mossgiel Posted March 24, 2014 Report Posted March 24, 2014 Sorry to hear this, hope some more work back.

It is a vector for Avipoxvirus, Newcastle disease virus, Falconid herpesvirus 1 (and possibly other Herpesviridae), and some mycoses and bacterial infections. Endoparasites include Plasmodium relictum (usually not causing malaria in the Peregrine Falcon), Strigeidae trematodes, Serratospiculum amaculata (nematode), and tapeworms. Known Peregrine Falcon ectoparasites are chewing lice,[57] Ceratophyllus garei (a flea), and Hippoboscidae flies (Icosta nigra, Ornithoctona erythrocephala).[58]
gulkie Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 Sorry to hear this Calum but don't make any snap decisions ,I know we have disgusted all this before ,but me personally think the time has already come that we are to late the RSPB have us beat ,I have said for years stop giving to the charities ,I'm not a heartless person but we are the people who need the help now, tell the tabloids why we are doing this ,remember we're not the only ones that watch this site.
