paddymac Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 I use a breeding mix which contains a variety of maize but I also put bucktons breed & wean in the galley pots in the nest boxes
Wiley Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 IMO maize isn't essential, what you must remember is the carbohydrates are burnt of very quickly, and are really only of use for the first hour of any given race, and then the bird uses it's fat reserves as it's main fuel for energy. I've fed maize when racing to my young birds during racing some years, and some years not, the result being there is no difference at all. But when on the dark, and moulting my birds always have maize in a high protein mixture.
Guest Redadam Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 I give Maize to old and young birds they love it mix it with other stuff
