paddymac Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 Absolute digrace to kill a healthy defenceless animal, as said on the threads, hang your head in shame Denmark :(
walterboswell59 Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 we dont know half of what goes on in zoos and wild life parks
blaz Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 it would have been killed humanely just like cows sheep pigs ect. i would think the zoo would have done this as a last resort.their is a lot more wrongs out their than this .
buster151 Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 humane or not its still disgusting especially when others had made an offer to rehome we dont know half of what goes on in zoos and wild life parksI see 6 lions were put down at Lonleat as well last month
gulkie Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 I'm sure there was a good reason for the demise of the animal as it wouldHave been a very valuable asset to them ,and before we know the whole story I don't think we have a right to comment ,it's certainly not very nice to see The people that show the most disgust are the ones that are looking forA cause to fight ,don't join them.M.O.
buster151 Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 the only reason was Quotas and genes, it had to many of them (inbreeding) the whole story is all over the internet with all the gory pictures showing a load of kids how to disect one and feed to lions Cant see why your saying people who are disgusted by it are looking for a fight as I'm entitled to an opinion as is everybody else, perhaps if you read the whole story then comment and this is my opinion only
philg50 Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 What i think is worse, this i agree is bad,Is the rearing of so called wild lions etc keeping them in small compounds for rich guys so called hunters to come along and shoot them at the end of their so called safari .
Guest strapper Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 this is no difference to the chickens that we all eat everyday, the biggest killer on earth is the human.how many chickens/turkeys have we eaten since birth...its an horrble story but its a fact of life.

Lennut Tar Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 the only reason was Quotas and genes, it had to many of them (inbreeding) the whole story is all over the internet with all the gory pictures showing a load of kids how to disect one and feed to lions Cant see why your saying people who are disgusted by it are looking for a fight as I'm entitled to an opinion as is everybody else, perhaps if you read the whole story then comment and this is my opinion only That's the way I read it etc "Quotas/gene pool" & if that is the case ???? why wouldn't a person be somewhat disgusted etc. One hopes !!! those in charge there, don't tell the rest of the animals what their fate more than likely will be, when the numbers get out of hand. Also !!!!! what mental capacity did the brains trust have there having the young kids watch the sorry saga.
Guest Owen Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 I am not sure why people can be so stupidly cruel, but there are signs of it all around us. There are the people who like to see bulls tortured to death in Spain, then there are the Canadian horse killers who take pleasure from inflicting pain and suffering on the animals that are at their mercy. We have plenty of cases of cruelty here in Britain but we are very careful to hide much of it. I find it beyond belief that the Syrians can inflict such terrible pain an suffering on innocent women and children but they think it is OK. Then there are the Evil men who kidnap and transport women to places like Britain and treat them like slaves and we who think we are civilised do nothing to stop it. Probably the worst side of much of this is the fact that we who have plenty to say about these things but actually look the other way when we should be outraged by such behavior.I have no doubt that when, mainly men, have power over any creature or fellow human they can often slip into a state of brutal indifference to the pain and suffering they inflict. That is bad enough but I just can't understand why people can stand by and allow these things to happen.I have recently been involved in a campaign to try to improve the welfare of pigeons in transit as most will know. Many have agreed that we have to make improvements and are prepared to join the debate but many are not. I have heard all sorts of excuses and reasons why we should not concern ourselves with these issues. Some financial, some because some people want to maintain the status quo and many who really don't care. The thing that has amazed me is that we have friends and colleagues who want to ignore the idea of improving the conditions in transit when it is obvious that it is a major reason why pigeons get lost. The fact that one young giraffe was killed humanly may not in it self be a big issue but behind the actions of those who did this there are some very seriously bad attitudes towards the sanctity of life. There was no need to kill the animal so why did they decide to do it? Then again why did the people who did the killing agree to do it?Is this what happens in the NHS when people are left untreated because someone in authority has decided so? In answer to the original question, I am sure that humans can stoop far lower than we have seen. If there is ever a shortage of food or any other essential commodity you will see it in abundance.
grdkeith Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 Absolute digrace to kill a healthy defenceless animal, as said on the threads, hang your head in shame Denmark :( given that most of us on here try to protect/improve our own livestock by strict selection then we have no real argument although it must have been a pr disaster for zoos
