I heard that a courier would not accept birds with no rings on due to DEFRA regulations, is this common place or a cop out???

If this is the case; Do they open every box and check, do you register your ring number with couriers, it sounds like bullshit or a logistical nightmare if applied???

i think u will find it is DEFRA regulations but i dont think u will find many couriers that enforce it, a rung bird is tracable to an owner an unrung is not. ps thay would be ok if u put address rings on them.

i would say a "cop out" or fear of maybe getting a liscence pulled Dunc ? i sent a handfull of un-rung late breds down to the South coast for a new starter .they were bred by an elderly local fancier :animatedpigeons:

Absolute rubbish and nonsense.

I can't see how DAFRA would / could say that! Pigeons are live stock after all. Do chickens as such, finches, and canaries have to be rung etc. No of course not. Indeed much poultry and 1000's of different species of pigeons and other birds don't. So that is luidruss to say the least.

Put the couriers name up and I, and many more, would never use him again.

Like the hose pipe banns it can't affect pigeon keepers. dAFRA can't, nor do have it both ways.

Well I have search DAFRA nothing there. Have searched the RPRA and WHU etc. nothing there.

Now it is a simple realism that if this was so, then these governing bodies would have enlightened the fancy, Simple fact that I believe.

I thought it was crap but not up to speed on regulations having not been on the site a lot lately, I will find out the name and post it.

All the talk and debate in the past seems to be wasted as my experience with couriers over the last couple of weeks is total disorganisation and lame excuses. The one that did the most for me was Saltire Couriers but links to go over the border are diabolical

Hi Dovey we use Bob Lee and he gets birds delivered from both sides of the border no problem and he will not let you down unlike one of the big couriers who promise everything but deliver nothing :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

could be to do with vaccinations, just like the race transporters all birds must be noted ring numbers re vaccination , me thinks, but think most would take them,
