No doubt the news reports of the Godolphin horses being found to contain anabolic steroids has shocked the horse racing world but will they affect racing pigeons.

It has been a subject brought to our attention many times in the past and has always came to the same conclusion that enhancing drugs would be passed out of a pigeon quickly and would not be subject to testing results plus distance pigeons are away from the loft 3-4 days and could not give an unfair advantage in flight.

If I may I will report what I have found as no doubt some on the forum will now already be aware off.

Ethylestrenol and Stanozolol were one of the two drugs found which are Anabolic Steroids in the Godolphin horses, They increase the size of the muscle cells meaning they can run faster and longer, The effects last longer than the drug does within the system so they are long term performance enhancers and we thought drugs would pass through their system quickly.
