Guest bigda Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 normal rings danny i just sild one onto a pen the bottom of the ring is wider than the top mate the smallest hole must be 8mm i think that is the standard size
bigjamie Posted March 31, 2013 Author Report Posted March 31, 2013 danny an 8mm drill shaft fits through one end but does not go through the other end its only 7and a half mm mate both ends should be 8mm and its not

Guest bigda Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 if your bird looses it foot you would be able to claim compensation from the manufactures and seller of the faulty rings and that could be about £500 per bird it would not be judged on its race ability it would be judged on your feeling as to what your bird went though what they would call distress
JohnQuinn Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 Well a rung a feathered squab about 13 days old today, admittedly with a wee bit help fae Lurpak, but i got it on without breaking the skin. Ironically The first 2 i rung this year were 6 days old and one of them lost the ring. So while both of the above were rung art the Wrong time i will make damn sure the rest are rung when they are ready to be rung, regardless of how many days old they are. So whether 8mm or 7.5mm they won't notice the difference that's for sure.
Guest bigda Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 these ring must be the hardest rings to find again, should the birds slip them i have found a birds ring inside a old thimble, how the hell it got in there god only knows
