looks fine to me did the owner mention the breeding?

He says it could be some sort of jansen cross as he said most of his jansen type ones were pied was but it sounds like he just thought a good bird was a good bird .It looks like it was wired as i can still see new feathers growing up under its crop .

He said it was a short race he used for a trainer for the channel but the way he described it sounds like they might have clashed with another race .I wont be breading from this pigeon just giving it a safe home .He was willing to pay for it collecting .

She will be ok to use as a feeder but dont go breeding aff her :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:

1 my best hens was lost from leicester 255 miles to me she was found at the big shopping centre in leicester only a few miles from the race point the secretary of leicester club picked her up and even had to sign for the bird as lost property anyway the point of the story is that hen was never lost she was in no doubt in my mind injured coming out the transporter the boy let her go a week or so later and she made it home hersel not all lost birds are bad birds also my wakefield yb winner was bred out a bird i got in as a yb stray

Daft as it sounds yeah, one reason, i lost a yb in 2010, came back the winter that year and i was short of hens so she had to stop, Paired her up and bred a yb of her, As a yb it scored, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, and was in clock more than that and took the pools, Last year he was barely raced cos of the weather but still managed to score, So for that one reason, every bird what stops in my loft i like to try a yb off.. And as it's only a stray people may not be keen of it, a friend of mine get a stray in, Trained and raced it.. 21 1st prizes later and the blood is still about in the world now.. You don't know what they can do/breed until you try them ;)

One of my best breeders was lost of the loft as a young bird and ended up at Epsom, it was still squeaking at the time. The chap singled it up it came back. It was my first bird home in the young bird LNRC that year. It's gone on to breed some good racers. They always get one chance.

There are exceptions to every rule and contradictions left right and centre when it comes to Doos, BUT on this one i'm with Alan, no way would i breed from it cos more BAD doos are lost than Good ones.

I had a heartattack nearly seeing that photo. Thought she was my hen I lost last year. Spitting double of her just looked at the photo I have of her and it could be her twin. Wished it had of been.

Remember reading on straps/strays etc and how many of them have gone on to win massive races or bread super pigeons. Obviously not all. Here's an example his name says it all lol http://paulstobbs.com/pigeons/the-gypsy.html wouldn't mind picking Him up at the duck pond. If the hens been wired and badly damaged not the best bird in the world is going to make it home. There not machines

Yeah that was my opinion these things do happen to good birds.

Lost a youngbird at 100 mile race, it went into C Craggs & Son &G Son loft less than 20 mile from where it was liberated, 2 year later it was 2nd UNC Bourges for them the year Rod Adams won race.It made me think and taught me to give pigeons a chance which I'm glad I did as pigeon that was 1st club 1st fed 4th reg 4th open 4500 birds well its mother was lost at 135 miles and returned a year later was lost again at same race point but only took a month to return this time it has bred pigeons to score but couldn't race very well itself.
